Within a sensible keyword analysis research the keyword exact competition data (or keyword exact match data) is of key importance. But remember, you cannot look at this exact competition data on its own, you need to use your common sense and look at it within the context of a handful of additional parameters your keyword analysis research will reveal (more about this later)
What is Keyword Exact Competition?
The exact number of websites containing the exact keyword-phrase your are researching.
In other words the number of websites that appear to be search-engine-optimized for your search term. These are the sites competing for that specific search term with the intent to show up at the top of Google’s first page when someone searches for that specific search term.
These sites are your competition for your keyword-phrase
How can I find out the value of Keyword Exact Competition?
There are a couple of ways;
- You can use google search engine and do it the long winded way which can be time consuming especially when researching a bunch of keywords related to one niche.
- You can use a good Seo Keyword Research Tool that gives you the Keyword Exact Competition value for any keyword or keyword phrase at the click of a button
If you use Google then you do it this way:
Do a “quoted” search for your search term in Google, for example “best gym ball”
You must use quotes "..." because you are looking for an exact match of your search term.
Perform the search and you will see Google showing the following data just under the search box: ‘About 2,150,000 results’ (at the time of writing)
Most beginner marketers would think: ‘over two millions websites competing for my keyword phrase “best gym ball”? I better look at a different keyword phrase’!
NO! WAIT!
Now, on the same google page, look at the bottom, below the Ads-Box and you will see the usual Gooooooooooogle word with numbers from 1 to 10 underneath.
For the actual Keyword Exact Competition number click on number 10!
Voila’, you will see that numbers actually stop at 8 (at the time of writing) which means only 8 pages of results and if you now look at the top of the page where earlier on it said ‘About 2,150,000 results’ it now says ‘Page 8 of about 73 results’!
This means that there are only 73 websites (not 2,150,000) you will need to compete against to rank at the top of first page in Google for your keyword-phrase! This is low competition (from a quantity point of view).
Of course low competition is a good starting point, but as I said before, you do need to look at this number within the context of a sensible keyword analysis research where you evaluate the monthly amount of searches this keywords is receiving, estimated monthly traffic you could get if your website was listed towards the top of Google’s first page, the quality (SEO) of the top ten sites within the Exact Match competition.
If after clicking on number 10 under the Goooooooogle word you had been presented with another ten pages going from 11 to 20 you simply keep clicking on the last number, 20... then 30... then 40 etc... until pages run out and Google shows you the actual Keyword Exact Match Competition Number
Now, of course if you had to do this manually for let’s say 20 or 100 keywords, where for each keyword you were going to manually click through 30 or 40 pages of google results you can see how this could become very tedious and probably drive you nuts!
The most productive way
The quickest and most productive way to retrieve Keyword Exact Competition data is to use a top Seo Keyword Tool which gives you Keyword Exact Competition values at the click of a button plus the rest of the must-have data for an effective keyword analysis research like Monthly Searches, Estimated Traffic, Website Competition Data and SEO Power.
There you have it! You now know what the exact website competition value is, how to find it (slow way or fast way) and that you should look at it in combination with other keyword analysis research key data.
Happy Keyword Exact Competition hunting to you!
