Using the Customer Sales Journey to Build Brand Awareness In Singapore

Utilizing the different digital marketing platforms for product awareness has proven to be effective for a number of companies worldwide. Unfortunately, start-up companies which are highly concerned with costs reduction and seasoned corporations which are not aware of the dos and don’ts of modern marketing, sometimes commit digital marketing blunders that harm their product representation process.

The same scenario is observed in Singapore where several industries fail to properly portray their product image in the cluttered and noisy digital space. To make it worse, just like any other customer in the world, the Singaporean citizenry are not aware that they have problems and that specific companies exists to fulfil that need.

Looking into a customer’s sales journey would provide answers and craft better marketing strategies to establish brand awareness and get a better return on investment:

1. Problem realization. Advertisement panels in the city-state’s metropolis are often bombarded with various brand names. Only a few speaks or has crafted a message that makes the reader realize that he/she has a problem and it should be given a solution. Same situation happens on the internet. As it is already a chock full of any information under the sun, a company’s voice can be diluted easily and become unheard of. In this first part of the customer sales journey, crafting a message that would make customers realize that they have a need or a problem will help differentiate your brand from others who are just saying they are the best in everything.

Take the example of a digital marketing agency in Singapore. Let’s name it VirtualLion. Their competitors would give out a message that would mention their brand for being the best and the no. 1 choice by businesses. But, businesses don’t really grasp the basics of how search engine optimization works or any of those digital marketing basics. That is a problem. Most businesses just don’t know it. So VirtualLion focuses on this problem realization stage and crafts a message saying:

“While others cash in on your ignorance of digital marketing, we let you be an educated client”.

2. Defining the best solution. In this stage, the customer is now aware of the problem but still confused on how to find the solution for it, or what solution can be used. Focusing on this customer need rather than sounding salesy in your message would further reel in the customer to convert. Get your message to speak to that need, what you have to address that problem. Let’s go back to the VirtualLion example. Being an online marketing Singapore firm, their solution is highlighted for that need and would be crafted like this:

“Proposals include brief and concise explanation of SEO and digital marketing concepts, dedicated account managers to give updates and knowledge of what is happening in the digital space, and our circle of trust includes the client, which is you”.

3. Establishing brand awareness. In this last stage of the customer journey, the customer already knows of the problem and is aware about how your service/product is the solution to that problem. At this stage, the brand name can now be established together with the solution. This will make the brand name synonymous to the solution being offered. For VirtualLion, their messaging is now:

“Other agencies loves your ignorance, VirtualLion doesn’t take you for a fool”.

“VirtualLion. Competent to make you competent”.

Getting your target customers in Singapore to be aware of your brand and service requires every bit of patience and hard work. Putting out a shotgun approach would not only yield poor results, but would also be a waste of time and money. May it be an in house marketing team or Singapore seo services doing the heavy work for you, crafting messages specifically for each stages in the customer journey will help pave the road for your brand to be the name of the solution without looking anymore into your service or product.
