We all suffer from time to time from lack of self esteem. Some people have a real issue with low self esteem whilst others may have too much self esteem. In my case self esteem was always a challenge and it got worst after I had my children and my work was not my priority. Suddenly I doubted any initiative I had in my business.
I did not realize how low my self esteem was. Somehow I did not feel capable of anything. Even when wanting to write an article on any subject my thoughts would freeze and could not think of anything to write. This is obviously an example and did not only happen when I wanted to write.
Through my readings I came across suggestions to improve my self esteem. Here are a few that I think may help you if you are facing the same struggles:
1. Eat well. You may have not thought that eating the right kind of food will help you with your self esteem. I only found out about this last year. Eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and less processed foods can definitely help you with your self esteem. You will also lose weight which will enhance your self image and increase your self esteem.
2. Sleep well. There is a debate regarding if 8 hours of sleep are really necessary or not. My belief is that it is necessary but the numbers of hours needed depend on the person. Some thrive on few hours and some need more. Do what it feels best.
3. Exercise: Exercising will help you increase your self esteem whilst also helping you to have a more positive outlook in life. Exercise helps you feel good about yourself, and also gives you lots of energy. If you have lots of energy you will probably tend to do more, and therefore feel more productive and feel better about your achievements which will in turn help you increase your self esteem.
4. If you have been putting off things then this is your time to start doing them. Do at leats one thing that you have been putting off.
5. Have a to-do list of things you need to do. Work through your to-do list and tick it off when you have done it. Do not throw your to-do list away When your self esteem is low go through the to-do list and check how much you have done.
6. Remember what you have achieved in your life, at school, university, extra murals activity, sports or anything in life. What were your greatest achievements? Not only remember this, but tell it to the universe, and be proud of your achievements.
The above were discoveries I made when I was trying to discover how to be happy. I cannot say I am there yet, but I am on my way.
