Ever get that feeling you're not moving ahead in life? Do you feel uninspired, unmotivated and lacking confidence in yourself and your abilities?
If so then you need to build self-esteem and gain more confidence in yourself so that you don't have to settle for a life any less than you deserve. One of the first steps in achieving this is to set yourself new goals and start challenging yourself.
When you step outside your comfort zone and achieve new things you're strengthening your self-esteem and confidence. That's why it's important to keep challenging yourself and setting yourself new targets.
What Kind of Challenges Should I Pursue?
To be honest it doesn't really matter what the challenge/s are the most important thing is to commit to getting started on them soon and pushing yourself to achieve them. It may be that you'd like to attend some evening classes and get a qualification for a new career or hobby, in which case ask your local adults college or library or better yet get some information up online on local centers for gaining new qualifications.
There are a number of examples I could use but the main thing is to pursue new and challenging interests. If something feels important then don't delay, take small actionable steps that can help you move to your end goal. Always have an end goal in mind as well when pursuing new interests!
Hold Yourself Accountable
As discussed a key area for building self-esteem is to set new goals and challenges. You firstly want to ensure you set manageable goals and targets and secondly you need to hold yourself accountable for reaching these targets. If for instance you needed to improve your writing skills then perhaps you could commit to writing 500 words out on a daily basis.
Set Time-limits
When I submit articles for instance I allow a time-frame of 30 minutes to complete each article. This helps me to remain focused on the task at hand as I have set a deadline for it to be completed. This is a great practice to get into and can be applied to anything, so start setting yourself targets with deadlines.
Track Your Progress
It's important to know what you've achieved and how far you've come in order to improve your self-esteem and gain confidence in yourself. Track your progress and successes regularly, perhaps you could keep a diary and start making a daily journal of your days tribulations. If your goal is to lose weight for instance then a great way to stay motivated and enthusiastic is to track your progress and monitor how many pounds you're losing.
To sum up, it's important to strive towards new goals and set yourself new challenges in order to build your self-esteem. As you achieve new things you'll naturally gain self-esteem and gain confidence in yourself and your abilities.
