Do your emotions run your life? Think about this for a minute... What role do your emotions play in how you look at yourself, others and the world around you? Let’s do a little exercise: Close your eyes for a minute and think back on a time in your life when you felt afraid, guilty or ashamed. How did those feelings affect your sense of self and general well being in life? Now I want you to think of a time where you experienced some great success or achieved a major milestone and felt joyful, energized and enthusiastic. Do you see what I’m getting at? When we feel happy and excited about life, we feel good about ourselves, which shows in how we relate to others and our place and purpose in the world.

Here are 3 highly effective ways to building your self esteem by harnessing your emotions to create cheerful moods and a positive attitude daily:

· Build positive emotions by developing an attitude of gratitude for the many blessings in your life, no matter how small, and living in the present. Let go of the past negative experiences in your life that you’ve been holding on to that serve no purpose in your present life by getting involved with people and activities that draw on your strengths and passion for life.

· Be optimistic about life. When you expect positive experiences in life it becomes easier to persevere through difficult times and you develop a great sense of emotional control. This optimism leads to more self confidence in your ability to solve problems, overcome obstacles and achieve your goals in life. Stays focused on the positive things in your life, and expect good things to come your way. You are exactly where you need to be in life, and everything you need to move forward will come your way when you need it.

· Become genuinely respectful, kind and loving to yourself and others. Developing these positive emotions will result in you becoming less critical and judgmental of yourself and the people around you. This will help you to build better relationships with others which are essential in building self esteem as well.

Controlling our emotions is one of the key elements in building self esteem. Learning how to build self esteem is vital to your general well being and success in live. Take charge of your emotions by accepting them for what they are, and allow yourself to express them, as long as it is done in a way that doesn’t hurt others.
