If you've ever struggled from a lack of self-confidence like I have in the past, you know that it can seem like a long road to get to where you want to be. Then, once you get to where you want to be, you realize it's up to you if you are comfortable with where you are at in that point in time or if you want to continue down that road and continue building on that foundation. If you're anything like me, you realized that once you've made some progress, you are already more than capable to continue making more progress and build more confidence in more areas of your life. With that being said, it is great to know that there is plenty of information out there that will teach you how to increase your self confidence. This article will provide a couple of summaries of that information, and what you should aim to do and incorporate.
One way to increase self confidence is to improve on your positivity over negativity. I know, positive thinking is overrated and some people make outrageous claims based on positive thinking alone. I'm not saying you can get whatever you want in life by sitting at home doing nothing all day except thinking positive thoughts to yourself, but if you learn to think more positively, and take more positive action in your life toward your goals, you will make more progress towards your goals and thus increase your self confidence. Also, people like being around positive people. The more you stay and act positive, the more it changes your internal state and your surroundings.
The next way to increase self confidence is to celebrate yourself. By this, I mean several different things. You should celebrate yourself by grooming and bathing regularly (obvious one), but also by doing things such as dressing nicely and taking pride in your appearance. You should also treat yourself once in a while by doing something like buying yourself a movie ticket, a new gadget, a favorite meal, a new pair of shoes; it doesn't have to be expensive at all, but it is something to acknowledge yourself for who you are, despite any flaws.
Increasing your self confidence isn't an overnight activity; it should be something you consciously work toward on a regular basis. But it is something you can start working toward, today, even right now, by making a decision and a commitment that you will do so and reap the benefits from the rewards as well.
By staying positive, taking positive action, grooming, dressing nicely, treating yourself, and acknowledging yourself despite any flaws, you are building momentum toward the direction you want to go. Just remember, nobody can take this journey for you - it is up to you to take the action.
