Look at setbacks and negative circumstances as challenges and learning experiences. You will be able to overcome negative circumstances more quickly when you change your perspective. Instead of calling yourself a failure, you will use your circumstances as a learning experience and look for ways to improve your situation. For instance, if you enjoy gardening, and you find lots of bugs on your plants, you might look for ways to solve that problem. You may also have setbacks when you try something new or try to expand on your skills. For example, if you are able to jog one mile, you may try to jog five miles. If you are out of breath from jogging five miles, you may decide to jog more slowly the next day or reduce your jogging to three miles.
Look for positive thinkers and spend time with them. You will feel better when you spend time with positive thinkers who look forward to a better future. Positive thinkers look for ways to improve their lives (for instance, they may go to school outside of work, or they may study for an eligibility test for a better job). You can encourage them as they make and follow plans to improve their lives and in turn, they are likely to encourage you with your plans also. You are likely to feel good when you make plans to improve your future.
Give yourself a pep talk every morning. When you wake up in the morning expecting a great day, you start looking for things you do well and look for proof of your skills. For instance, you might be a good student, do a certain kind of job well, be good in sports, wear coordinating clothes, or be good at growing plants. Focus on things you do well, and find ways to use your skills. When you use your skills, you will feel good about yourself.
When you implement some ways to build your self esteem, you will feel more positive about your life. You will be motivated to make your life better because you learn from your setbacks, spend time with positive thinkers, and think positive about yourself. As a result, you may set up goals to improve your skills, and as a result, you will feel better about your life .
