It is important to feel a sense of purpose. Feeling that you are needed, wanted, and valued gives you a reason to get up in the morning. For many people, their job gives them a sense of purpose. They are qualified for their position, and in some cases, they are the only people who have this specific training. Therefore, they are valuable to their company, and it is not likely that they will be fired.
It is great to hold roles like wife, daughter, sister, aunt, mother, or grandmother. Some people dream of having a family role like this. Others, however, want something more. They want something else along with their family roles.
I am a wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister, sister-in-law, and a niece. Very soon, I will also be an aunt. I am happy to have these family roles. What gives me a sense of purpose, however, is online publishing.
I like online publishing because I am earning money for my work, rather than simply writing and publishing it. My work appears online, and I earn money after so many views. I plan to use my earnings to pay off my student loans and to live a good life. My husband is working on his United Earth books and has mentioned doing some traveling to make the writing more realistic. He wants to be able to experience the cuisine of other countries, such as Greece, and he also wants to see what the people are like there. I would like to help him accomplish these goals.
A number of years ago, I was involved in vanity publishing. I saw ads in magazines from companies who were inviting people to submit their original poetry. The poetry had a chance to be included in an anthology, and each person who submitted poetry for the company's contest had a chance at winning the $1000 grand prize.
Since I never won any money, I do not know if the offer was legitimate. I suspect that the company simply mentioned the money to get people to submit their work so that the company would get enough poems to be able to publish a book. They then sold the book for about $50.00.
Since then, I have grown up. Money is important to me, and I cannot rely on the chance that I might win some. I need to earn it, and online publishing allows me to do just that.
Now, I wake up each day excited to see what is trending on Twitter, excited to see how much my earnings grew overnight, and excited about life. This is how life should be.
