Are you considering selling your home? Have you looked around your neighborhood only to see a ton of homes that are also for sale? How can I make my home stand out from the rest in my area? The answer is simple, Curb Appeal.
My name is Bob, I currently own and operate a landscape company that deals with numerous real estate companies to try to get an edge on their competition by creating a better curb appeal for their listings. Often times home owners spend a great deal of time preparing the inside of their home thinking that this is the only issue to tackle in order to sell their homes quickly. That could not be farther from the truth.
Think about it, what is the first thing that draws your attention to a home that is for sale, right, the landscape. Even if you have a fairly neat landscape there are several little things that one can do in order to have your house appear far better or cleaner than others on your street and do not cost a great deal of money and often times can be completed by the home owner themselves.
First, take a look at your curb, side walk or front steps. Are they dingy and grey in appearance? This is probably one of the most over looked and easiest fixes that a home owner can fix. All that is needed is a good stiff exterior broom, a garden hose or pressure washer and some muriatic acid. Now, before using any chemicals, your safety is very important. I would strongly suggest that one were chemical safe shoes or boots, long pants and shirt, safety glasses, rubber gloves and a respirator. Muriatic acid is a very strong acid and can cause burns. Ok, now that you understand that safety is very important, let's get the steps. You will want to work in sections, I would say 5 to 10 foot sections. Get the area, curb, sidewalk or steps wet. Once wet, you will need to spread some of the muriatic acid onto the concrete. You will see some foaming, this is normal. Then using your broom, you will want to scrub the area. I would wait approximately 5 minutes for the products to work and then simply hose off the chemical off. Don't worry too much about your lawn as the acid will be diluted enough when you are rinsing the area. Continue on to the next section and complete the previous steps. Once dried your concrete will be much brighter and newer looking and will definitely make an impression.
What better way to make your home and landscape pop than to have a nice clean and bright sidewalk or curb. One could even use these steps for a back yard concrete patio or a concrete driveway. Like I had said, the overall cost of taking care of your concrete is not all that much. However, should you find money becoming a bit tight as we most all of us are, I can recommend a site to show you how you may make additional money selling products online. Wealth from home office is a site that will show you how one could sell either your products or products that others have created and earn a commission in doing so. After all, we could all use an extra 50 to 100 bucks a month right?
I will be offering other articles for some fairly low cost ideas that will definitely help to make your house stand out from others on your block by creating great curb appeal. Even if you are not selling your home and are just wanting to create a more welcoming appearance, these tips will definitely help out.
