I did not research any keywords for this article! I just think that the keyword process is just a little over hyped. I search for just the right long-tailed keywords. You know the ones. Super niche keywords that have 50 or more searches and under 400 pages on the search engine. Yeah, those. Well I will just use one example (I have many) of what is bothering me.
I found a keyword phrase that would take your breathe away and I couldn't hardly wait to get a post written around this exact phrase. Actually I even named my domain according to this phrase. I got the post written and the page content looked great to me, but then I'm not a writer, so who knows. Now for the excitement, I waited for a few days, went to google search and entered my "keywords".
Well guess what. Google's search didn't show the words that I loaded in anyplace on that page. There were a number of variations of the words and a lot of different phrases that were not even close to my keywords. So much for excitement, that's just disappointment.
Everyplace you look and every time you turn around there is another better, greater, utopian keyword search tool. This is so overdone that I wander if this is just another over hyped internet sales gimmick.. When you start comparing one to another you just can't help to wonder if they are all just making up the search information on their own. Obviously they all have to start somewhere (the search engines I would guess) to set up they programs.
Keywords must have something to do with ranking but what is lurking behind the scenes that the google people and others are looking for. Content in your articles is very important and now I am made to understand that using your keywords in your title and once in the first paragraph of your article is more than enough to satisfy the engines. Of course, you want to write for your readers and not the engine, but what is that engine looking for, certainly not just keywords.
Now I have learned that I can get a program that will help me find out what keywords the "competition" is using. With that information then I can utilize the same words that they use. Duh, if we all use the same keywords, how is that going to help the engines find each and everyone of us? You need your own unique keywords and you need that something else that the google folk are looking for, whatever that is. There are thousands of keywords, I guess, but how many ways can you say "dog fleas"?
