Squidoo is an awesome place to write articles about a product or something that interests you and other people. One of the best features of Squidoo is that it has very high page rank. This is great for you if you are trying to market anything, because in the Internet Marketing world page rank means everything. When you achieve high page rank, huge amounts of traffic will follow. Submitting only to directories with high page rank and an excellent Alexa ranking will not cut it and do everything that you are wanting to get done with your webpage.
I am going to discuss three proven techniques to help you improve your overall lens rank on Squidoo.
1. Back link building is one of the most vital aspects of getting higher page rank. Back links are like the "lifeblood" of their campaigns. But how do you build back links? By writing articles, of course! Write lots articles around your "long-tailed keyword phrases" and try keep a anywhere from 1% to 3% density in your articles. Try not to focus strictly on writing around your "keyword phrases", but make sure to make a good point of them. Google needs to be able to find your article, but don't go overboard with it. Readers are looking for "real" and "valuable" content, and Google can sense this. If you use your keyword phrases too many times you will be in violation of "keyword stuffing" and therefore possibly sounding "unnatural".
2. Make lots of blog comments on blogs that have relevant content or create your own blog.
Writing on a blog and posting to it regularly is what makes the Google "spiders" crawl your web page. When they start crawling your site on a regular basis, you know that you are going to get a decent amount of consistent traffic. Always write blog posts and create pages around your targeted "keyword phrases". Blogging is a fun way show your own personality, and to create your own targeted "fan" base. Many bloggers
have gained that extra competitive "edge" through blogging. Blogger and WordPress are great places to start. and the plus side is that Google loves both of them, so you can't go wrong with either of them!
3. Socializing through various social networks is a great way to get the word out about your lens. Squidoo uses it's own platform of rating a lens via the Squid Like button. The squid like buttons is kind of like the Facebook like function except in the fact that the more squid likes your lens gets, the higher the overall lens rank you can achieve. Squid likes can help you even get featured on other people's lens that has content similar to your lens. This is great for you because that means more targeted traffic to your lens.
If you choose to use Squidoo as a means of promotion, be sure to implement all three of these techniques so you can be sure to increase the value of your lens and get the most out of Squidoo.
Thanks for this. Time I get into writing regularly for Squidoo. The trophies are cool :)
My Im career started on Squidoo, you make a good point socializing is very important on Squidoo to build backlinks and drive traffic. Do you think that they are making it harder instead of easier though?
I think it is becoming easier because of the newer modules they have like the links plexo module.
I would use both means to cross promote all of your products. The lens will definitely help out your blog in terms of ranking in the search engines because Squidoo has a really high page rank. It ultimately depends on your preference on which you want to devote more time to. My preference would be to start out with Squidoo to get some exposure, because they have a really large community and then use your lenses to reference back to your blog. The good thing about making lenses is you can start earning money from the adsense pool from Squidoo if you are above a certain lens rank, even without any sales. If you have a blog with minimal traffic you may not be earning anything for awhile. The plus side with making a lens is you can write about different niche topics to see where you are getting the most traffic and then revolve a blog around those topics and basically make a large link wheel for SEO purposes.
