When you manage to rank website traffic will increase to this particular site. At the end of the day, no traffic - no sales - no adsense ( or any other ad system ) earnings.
There are a few different tried and tested ways to rank website traffic and all of them involve a little bit of work on your part. If you want to maintain your website at a decent monetary level then website traffic is essential. Every webmaster is more or less obsessed with what way is best to increase traffic to their site because they are aware that conversion of sales/products/services will depend on traffic. The first thing you should ask yourself is 'how unique is the content on your website?'.
Don't lie to yourself on this answer - it's very important. I tried out a test on content using two separate blogs through blogger, one blog copied from a wiki article and the other unique content ( both blogs were centered around the same keyword ). The results were huge - I had over four times the visitors to the unique content blog! A large part of where you website is going to end up in Google SERPS ( search engine ranking position ) is how many backlinks you have going into your site.
Now, backlinks are links going into your site, NOT the links coming out of your site. Google considers the links as a popularity thing and will judge your website accordingly. One form of backlink that Google loves is called a 'social bookmark'. These bookmarks rank high in themselves and also send some organic, natural traffic to your site.
There are literally thousands of these social bookmarking sites out there at present but not all of them are the same level. There are about a hundred main bookmarking sites that you should think about using for rank website traffic ( and you can easily find a list of these from a simple search online ). A very popular way of creating 'relevant' backlinks to your site is to write an article for an article directory ( much like this one ). You obviously have to write an article that gives information on a subject your website is based on but it is a fruitful way to push traffic and backlinks towards your website. Rank website traffic is a hard fought process so do not think it's going to be all plain sailing. Make sure you create links on a weekly basis at least before you see results.
