SEO for Beginners, \'newbies\' And Everyone Else

Search Engine Optimization. SEO.

Sounds like a technique used by the bad guys on Star Wars.

And for most people struggling to build an online business, it might as well be.

It's like a 4-letter word (except it's only 3-letters) that would get your mouth washed out with soap.

Too hard. Too complicated. Too "techy". Takes way too long. Right?

Here's the thing: The fact that most people view SEO in those terms is exactly why there's a few select people that are making an absolute killing using SEO.

These people aren't smarter than you or I. They've just taken the time to learn a few simple, free techniques that help them make any website or blog post extremely 'Google-friendly' in just a few minutes.

So while everyone else is out there spending a fortune trying to decipher AdWords or trying to sneak their ads past the Facebook ad-police, paying $1-$5 every time someone clicks on their link, there are a few regular people who are laughing all the way to the bank using simple SEO stuff.

Now that the light's clicked "on" for me, here's how I look at SEO:

Free traffic. Free traffic. Free traffic.

Here's the 2 biggest benefits of SEO-

1) It's free. You don't need to do expensive "test" ads. You won't be paying big bucks every time someone clicks on a link. And you don't have to keep an account current to pay for any ads.

2) It's truly "set and forget". Unlike PPC (pay-per-click) advertising, which requires constant updates, tweaks and renewals, once you have an SEO-friendly website or blog post, it will act like a fishing line in the world-wide ocean of prospects. It will do the work for you while you're taking care of other things. Not only that, but for Google your article/post becomes like a fine wine- it gets better with age.

To be fair, there are a 1-2 "cons" to doing SEO-

1) It won't bring you a million visitors overnight. It takes time for Google, Bing and Yahoo to index your site and work it up the rankings. But it will work if it's done right. It's just a matter of time.

2) You need to be consistent. Google doesn't want to see someone make 12 posts in a day and then do nothing for a month. When you do 1-2 posts/day for 30-60 days, that's when Google takes notice and sees something real and consistent and of value.

Ironically, it's these 2 cons that make SEO such a powerful tool. The fact is, most people aren't willing to be patient. Most people aren't willing to be consistent. Those 2 factors alone weed out 98% of your competition before you even get started with SEO.

Here's the bottom line- if you're willing to take the time to learn these 6 simple SEO techniques for beginners, and if you're willing to be consistent with them, you're going to start generating very consistent, targeted traffic to your blog or website... for FREE.

A colleague of mine has been implementing these same 6 techniques. He started "posting with a purpose". 3 posts/day for 30 days to his blog, with good quality content. Next thing he knew, he was getting 10, 20... sometimes 40-50 leads a day from visitors to his blog. All for free. This turned into a nice little income of over $5,000/month within his first 60 days.

And here's the best part- it's going to keep growing. The seeds have been planted. It's like a faucet that can't turn off. He's turned his blog into an income producing asset with these simple techniques.

Can you see yourself doing that? There's no reason you can't be doing the same thing.

So if you're willing to be consistent, these 6 simple SEO techniques for beginners, I promise that S-E-O will become your favorite 3 letters of the alphabet.

All the best!
