I have had an avid interest in SEO since about 2005 where I have seen numerous changes in white hat SEO link building strategies. Believe it or not, there was a time when you could send a ton of crappy links to your website with one main keyword anchor and get it to rank overnight. Those times have changed drastically, and with good reason. It is my belief that Google has evened out the playing field for webmasters with patience and skill to rank in the search engines and drive traffic to their websites.
I don’t buy into a lot of the fear mongering that goes on online. It gets bad when people resort to telling you that the sky is falling in on SEO’s and you have to resort to reporting bad links to Google, and never even attempt to build links, unless of course it is with their shiny new product.
You can avoid a lot of the hassles if you listen to your own voice, and trust what works for you. If you want to compete online, you have to test different common sense methods of link building. Always remember to post content that readers will want to read.
Begin With Quality Content
The truth of building white hat SEO links starts with quality. If you even attempt to start an online business now or in the future, it is critical to create high quality content. It’s simple to win this game as long as you can be true to yourself. Begin by placing the first high quality piece of content on your blog with a cool related image or video to engage your readers. Write another article related to the one you have just placed on your blog for link building purposes.
You don’t want to rush to create content, and you don’t want to post the same article to as many sites as possible. This is not the way to rank. It is simply the way to waste a lot of time.
Instead, write five good 400 – 600 word articles a day and submit them to high quality article directories, web 2.0 sites, and document sharing sites. These articles should be unique and without grammar errors.
Creating Content for Building Links
When creating content keep in mind that you are writing to engage readers. This is not something that you want to just throw together. Take your time to write an intelligent article, and include relevant images and video. Create a series of unique articles and post them to article directories, web 2.0, document sharing sites, videos and podcast sites. Get creative with your backlinks and post content where you readers will find you.
Create a Schedule of Writing and Posting
It is super important to create a schedule of writing and posting. You have to commit the time and strike a balance between creating content for your blog and building backlinks. Because Google is always looking for fresh quality content, it is most important to create content for your blog first, and concern yourself with link building secondly.
You can rank your blog in Google and you don’t need an army of outsourcers to do it. Be sure to create quality content for your blog and for link building purposes. Post to high quality websites like article directories and web 2.0 sites, and be sure to write with your readers in mind.
