Google is telling your customers all about your site before they even visit! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. So what do you think? You think I made that title to entice you to read? Hell no! Im for real, read on or you could find yourself dropping in the SERPs.
Okay, so here is the point of the story. You know the most important SEO techniques, backlinks, crawl errors, title tags etc. Well these are obvious. So guess what Google has done. They went and added snapshots of your website on the search results page. Thats just great lol. So no more enticing ad text, better be honest. Let me give you the run down here.
Below I have listed what Google will show your customers in the snapshot.
Where is the keyword and relevance?
Thats right, Google will now highlight the section with keywords in it so that the customer can see why the ad was recommended. This can tell your customers if your selling a product, if its an amazon product, how expensive or cheap it is and all kinds of things. Can help, or can hurt. What you think? As I said, we will start seein much more honest ad text.
Products or Content?
Now, a customer will know if you offer a bunch of information or if you have content. They can see if your content is relevant. If your product is what they want. All this without even clicking through to your site. This will lower your chances of being able to convince people to get our product over another. Thanks alot Google!
Do you attract clicks? Or red-flags?
Also this can cause your lowering in the SERPs. If the google starts to notice alot of people viewing the snapshot of your site, but not clicking through....UH OH! I can tell you exactly what they will do. Drop your rank. I mean if people see the snapshot and dont click, they dont like what they see. Low click through rate AND irrelevant content for that keyword. Double no no to big Google.
I mean really think about it all. Try to make your site look like what it is. If it is informational, make it very obvious. If it is to sell, make it VERY obvious. You wouldnt want to miss out on a potential sell due to the fact that your site looks informational, when in all acutality it is a sales page.
My View
My opinion on this would be to not concentrate on all the ways that this can potentially hurt you, but better yet, concentrate on all the postive from it. This can greatly help you (even though I make it look bad in my previous comments :P)
How would you do that? I dont know about you, but I will definately be using this to spy on my competion. I want to see whats working for the competitors. SNAPSHOT! I want to see how they make google rank them for keywords. SNAPSHOT! I want to know how they set up a good sales page. SNAPSHOT! Oh yeah, Im going to so take advantage of this.
Hope you enjoyed this article and please feel free to comment below with your opinions on this. I look forward to writing more content with tips on affiliate marketing. Be sure to keep up with me here folks. The internet business is moving fast, and so will I be. Good day!
