Mark of Pleasure or Shame?- How to get rid of a Hickey.
I recently posted an article on my website listing the different ways of kissing and within that article, I mentioned the hickey kiss and explained how to do it. A hickey can sometimes be called a kiss mark or a love bite and it's basically a bruise like mark caused by the kissing or sucking of the skin. The most popular areas for hickeys are on the neck, arm or chest and they typically last anywhere between three to six days. The hickey kiss is a very erotic and pleasurable type of kiss and its enjoyable to both the giver and the receiver. While it's very easy to get carried away in the moment when receiving a hickey, it can be the mark of shame the next day. Trust me, I know.
Although my complexion is dark and therefore, making it a little easier for me to hide hickeys, their can still be a pain in the behind if it's a very bright one or in a visible spot. Before I knew how to get rid of a hickey, I would be walking in shame for days because of the obvious deep red spot on my neck. Boy, was I embarrassed, especially when my grandmother would point it out. Now, I no longer have to walk the walk of shame because I've learnt a few techniques over the years. Fortunately for you, I will be passing these tips on to you.
Applying Ice- Here is a little secret, ice can not only be used for your “vodka on the rocks” or your “rum and coke” it can also be used for your love bites. Who would have thought right? I've learnt that applying ice to your hickey as soon as possible will reduce the swelling and redness. The trick is to wrap a few cubes of ice in a paper towel and place it on the area for a few minutes. However, after a few minutes, the coldness might become over bearing. When this happens, just take it off the spot for about a minute and then put it on again. The only thing about this technique is that after a very heated night, I have no ice left over for my drinks. Bombers!!
Massage- If you're like me and want to save those cubes for more important things, another trick I've learnt is to message the hickey. Massaging the hickey will help break up the blood clots and make it less noticeable. Using a spoon or a toothbrush instead of your fingers would be more effective in applying pressure. The sooner you try this the better.
Tea Bags - I am a huge tea fan and within one day I can easily drink three to four cups of tea. So you could imagine how happy I was when I realized I can use my left over tea bags on my now shameful love marks. All I needed to do was to keep re-warming and re-wetting the tea bag and place it on the affected spot until I started to notice a difference in colour. Another remedy is to apply tooth paste on the hickey.
Hide or Cover - up -Those are proven techniques that worked for me in the past but if all fails, you can always try hiding or covering the hickey up. The best ways to hide it is by wearing a scarf or a turtle neck. Doing this for a few days will give the hickey enough time to heal. If you prefer to cover it up, your best options would be to use a concealer or eye make-up. When choosing a concealer, make sure you pick one that matches your complexion as closely as possible. Applying a green eye shadow on the spot first will help to tone out the purplish bruise and even out your skin tone. Try not to go crazy on the application otherwise it might bring more attention to the area. This technique will cover the hickey for a couple of hours only so you would need to walk with it your make up to keep re-applying.
So there you have it. I hope you enjoyed this post and that it was helpful to you. If you would like to read my article called Kiss Me, You Fool - 10 Different Ways of Kissing please click here
