With Halloween quickly approaching, stores will soon start filling their shelves with costumes, candy and decor. One of the most exciting things about Halloween is decorating the yard. Having a Halloween yard is fun to create and fun to watch the faces on your visitors as they approach your home.
I have some Halloween outdoor ideas that will help you choose some fun decor to spook up your yard. I have always enjoyed creating a yard that had the look of a haunted house and made visitors scream with fright. You can't go wrong with the adorable inflatable yard displays. They are both easy to assemble and come to life in an instant. I have found that stores carry several different styles of inflatable displays. Some come animated with Halloween themes and others include cartoon characters. I just love these.
Halloween yard art is fun and affordable. I have found a huge variety of Halloween yard art from ghosts, to skeletons, witches and more. There are different styles that light up, or are animated with movement and sound. There is Halloween yard art that you can hang, stake into the ground or any other creative idea you can come up with. I like the tombstones and the decor that looks like it is coming up from the ground.
Lighting is not only for Christmas anymore and is another fun choice to add to your decor. You can find string lighting to add around your trees, bushes or the trim of your house. An extra bonus with many of the string lightings that are available is that they are LED energy saving, so you don't take a hit to the wallet. The lighting adds a creepy glow to your house and compliments your yard decor. Remember less is not more with Halloween decor, the creepier the better.
You can also find Halloween props. These are a bit more expensive, but worth it if you are having a haunted house type theme, or hosting a party. Many of these are life like and animated. Halloween props have always been my favorite types of decor ever since I attended the Halloween Haunt at Knotts Berry Farms. Some of these can be very scary and not recommended around small kids. Sometimes you have to take a second look at these to determine whether they are real or not.
Halloween outdoor ideas don't stop there. Another popular idea is a Halloween yard sign. I have to admit being a huge fan of the "Psycho" movie I have the "Bates Motel" sign hanging in my garage window. Signs range from simple stake signs to post in your yard from hanging signs that light up. Some have cute sayings that warn your visitors of what is ahead.
Finally is the fog machine. This has been something I have always wanted to try and finally had the opportunity. Fog machines are fantastic for creating that mysterious smoke screen for hidden surprises. Just seeing the smoke screen itself is spooky and once you walk through and get that startling scare it makes a true essence of Halloween.
However you decide to decorate your Halloween yard all you need is your own imagination and creativity. Just remember to have fun and your Halloween yard will come together. Happy haunting!
