In order to become an extreme couponer you will need a good amount of coupons. I will discuss some of the best ways to get coupons as well as stacking coupons. Coupon cycles are about every 6 weeks. When you find a coupon to match a particular sale it is a good time to stock up on that item.
Wondering where to get coupons?
There are many ways to get coupons. One of the best ways is to subscribe to your Sunday paper. Some extreme couponers may even order a banner for each member of their family to multiply their savings. Inserts to look for in these banners are smart source, red plum, and about once per month P&G (Proctor & Gamble). You may want to check out their website to see what banners these inserts are in your area.
Really coupons are everywhere you look. When browsing your favorite grocery store, you may notice little machines that have coupons. I take these and save them to use with the ideal sale.
Another way to get coupons is by checking the boxes of things you have already bought. Sometimes they're printed inside or outside of the packaging. Often you will find them inside the box as well.
A popular way to acquire coupons today is to print them directly from you home printer. Doing a simple internet search will show thousands of results for printable coupons. You can narrow your search to exactly what you are planning on buying.
Dumpster Divers
Can you believe millions of dollars worth of coupons are simply tossed in recycle bins or trash cans every year? People do not realize their value. To me that is just like throwing food savings away. Dumpster diving for coupons is not as dirty as it may sound.. However, you may want some tools of the trade. Wearing gloves and using a trash picker are helpful especially if the recycle bin was recently dumped (I know from experience, it's hard to reach that low). Also you should check with your city to see if it is legal, as it varies from county to county. Have Fun, I know you will be as excited as I am when you score a big stack of coupons. I feel like I have won the lottery!
Stacking Coupons
You cannot stack manufacture coupons, such as the ones in the Sunday paper. However, you can pair a manufacture coupon with a store coupon. Many grocery and drug stores have coupons that you can use in that store only. Matching those with manufacture coupons=mega savings.
Also if you have a coupon that states you need to buy 2 of a certain item and the other one doesn't say that you can use 2 coupons.
