My favorite shoes in the world are Nike Blazers. I love the look and feel of this shoe, how it conforms to my every action. Well Im going to take some time to tell you about this shoe in greater detail(guess that goes to show you just how much of a fan I am of these shoes).
Do you remember your first pair of shoes? I personally do not but at any matter I do remember my first pair of blazer. I remember walking into school and my friends telling me, it look like I had clown shoes on. Funny thing about it, the very next week it seemed like all my friends had on these"clown shoes". The nike blazers were first released in 1973, through Nike and were worn by the professional basketball George"Iceman" Gervin.
Nike SB Blazers.
Nike desired to cross over into the realms of skateboarding. In light of this fact they had to create a shoe that could keep up with their competitors: Vans,DC shoes as well as Billabong. Thus the Nike SB Blazers were born from this necessity, keeping true to the nike look, they also added padded tongues and collars to the shoes to make them more comfortable. The need for more padding in the shoe, is because of the types of falls skateboarders have to deal with. The shoe had to give them a lot of support as well as be able to break the fall of high jumps. Though the shoe provided all the necessary components that skateboarders needed, nike still could not keep up with their competition, because Nike was never thought of as a skateboarding store.
Re-vamping Nike SB Blazers.
In response to the dip in sales, Nike decided to sign Paul Rodriguez as the figurehead of the SB brand. During this time(2004), skateboarding was becoming an increasingly popular trend, so as the trend began to grow so did the need for shoes. The new shoes, were tripled stitched(which is ordinary for skateboarding shoes, seeing as the go through a lot of wear and tear), they also added a more padded tongue and collar around the shoe(which explains the puffy look of it). The Nike SB, similar to the nature of their other brands, come out with different styles of shoe every years(as well as seasonally). Even, certain pro skateboarders have been given their own shoes such as: Eric Koston, Lance Mountain and Stefan Janoski.
I prefer the regular Nike Blazers more than the Nike SB Blazers, because of the look, but I must admit the added comfort of the SB is quite refreshing. These shoes go great with dressy pants, or regular cargo shorts on the go. The high tops of favorites of younger kids, while the low tops favor the older generation, just fine.
