The biggest mistake people make when starting a business online, particularly in affiliate marketing, is that they ten to just want to post links everywhere. This will do nothing but turn people off and look at you as a spammer. To be successful online you need to brand your business in a way that will drive traffic, create a custom base and have their trust. If people don't trust your advice or won't even look at your site, your never going to make a dime.

Creating a Customer Base

In order to make any sales at all you first need to think of you targeted customer base and develop your website around those individuals. Research other sites that are under you niche, without copying content, look at what they are doing and think of ways you could improve. Also check out Q&A sites as well and se what kinds of questions are being asked about your niche. Always look for ways you can improve your site to better meet the wants and needs of your readers. The more work you do and less they have to do the better.

Building Trust

you can't just go around posting links all over the place because most people are not going to click them without something to convince them to. Instead you need to post articles or something that at least offers ad I rip tigon as to what the link is for, without making it sound like an ad. Say you are posting on Facebook, before promoting your site or product start off writing post in relation to content that you are posting on your site. Maybe once or twice a day post some words of wisdom related to you niche to get people engaged in you and your words. Once people are reading non promotional articles and post and you have gained their trust, you can start posting your links in your post. Make sure they are related to what you are writing about mad not just some random link that has nothing to do with what you wrote.

Traffic

Now that you have your targeted customer base and their trust you can start promoting and driving traffic to your site tastefully. You still can't just go posting links everywhere but you can start using links any where you are known for your good writing and advice, what ever your case is. Once people are interested in what you have to say you have a better opportunity to get them to your site and make sales. Be sure to always keep up on your improvement and never get neglectful when it comes to your readers. Continue to bring value to them and alway respond to any questions or comments they leave you.

Site promotion doesn't have to be hard, you just need to do it right. Once people know and trust you you will start seeing more and more traffic on your site. A good thing to keep in mind is that once you have a bad reputation it's hard to turn it around. When you have a good reputation it can be easy to loose it if your neglectful to your reads and customer base.
