The internet gives you the opportunity to have the world at your fingertips. With your website completed you could answer questions during the slow times and market your product or service to maximise profits.

The process to go through to set up a website is to register a domain name, design, and submit it to the web. You can get your small business on the internet in minutes with easy-to-use Site Builder and templates that do the design work for you. No technical skills are required and you can gain a mobile version of your site, too. The next step is to get visitors to your website. Just like a physical shop the website will not do any business if there isn't any traffic. No one will visit your online store if they don't know about it.

Your regular customers will probably check out your website, but they unlikely to buy anything, when they can drive a couple of miles and purchase it directly from you. You need to attract new customers and this where you need to look into search engine optimization. Also you may even consider something called pay-per-click.

Pay Per Click (PPC) enables you to list your website at the top of search engine ranking results by advertising on keywords that describe your product or service. You bid for a prominent position in the ranking when a particular keyword is typed into the search bar .The higher your bid, the higher your advertisement for your business will be displayed in the results. You only pay when someone clicks on your listing and goes to your website. You don't pay to list; you only pay for clicks or click throughs. This way you only pay for the traffic to your website and there are no other hidden costs involved

Businesses that use pay-per-click prefer it to natural search engine optimization because it's an easy efficient way to improve a sites ranking in search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo. This will increase its traffic and a webmaster will maintain more control over the search engine campaign.

The disadvantage to PPC is the costs can be quite high if you want to continue to achieve high search engine rankings.
