Honey is a fantastic substance. Very healthy (as long as you don't have too much of it!) and very delicious. It's also a very effective treatment for acne and acne scars. Does honey get rid of acne scars? A great deal of people have gotten very effective relief from acne scars with honey, and so I'd say probably, yes. Like anything it will depend on your skin type, how often you apply it and what type of honey you use. I'm all for improving the odds though, so if you want to know if honey gets rid of acne scars, why not give it a go yourself?
The best honey to use is Manuka honey. This is a special type of honey that's made pretty much exclusively in New Zealand. Yes - that doesn't make it cheap. I actually live in New Zealand and even here it's still about double the price of regular honeys. While most honey will help heal scars, Manuka honey is the king and is that one that most people try. Get a tub of the stuff if you can - you'll probably find that it's cheaper then most of the fancy acne scar creams you can buy in any case!
The easiest thing to do with the new honey that you've purchased is to use it as a face mask. While some people recommend that you add other things to the honey first (like lemons and other essential oils) there is no reason to do that. You can just use the raw honey, on its own. Simply use a teaspoon to rub it over your scars. You don't need to use too much of the stuff, just enough to have a layer over your skin that's a few millimeters thick.
Leave the honey on for a bit (half an hour to an hour) and then wash it off well. Warm water is the easiest way to rinse it off, and if you're having a shower that makes it even easier. Honey dissolves in warm water, so give that a go. Make sure you get all of the honey off - while it's a lovely thing to put on your skin you don't want it clogging your pores and stopping the natural skin process.
The other part of the equation is consistency. You will never achieve success with your acne scars if you just do it every now and again. You've got to be consistent! Use a wall chart if you need to. Once a day, or every couple of days if you can manage it.
The only person who can answer our initial question (does honey remove acne scars) is YOU. I can tell you all the stuff I know, but until you actually get on board and get going with it, you won't see any success - and it will just be a questions.
Excellent idea! I want to try this out and report back. I'll do anything except use those expensive acne cream ever again... As for acne itself and keeping pimples from happening, I've come across two solutions free of pharmaceutical drugs that are detailed at a website called ayurveda-natural (what, no namedropping?!), they both really worked for me, I rarely see a pimple now and my health is much better.
