To get rid of acne fast, people are finding they can reuse household items. The use of toothpaste is a creative way to get rid of zits. As odd as it sounds, toothpaste is becoming more common in use to get rid of acne fast. It's not surprising, as there are many movies that boost claims of reusing household items. A popular movie boasts of Windex being the cure to every problem. Well, as demonstrated in the movie, people are claiming that common household products can serve double duty. The question is, can toothpaste get rid of acne fast?
Toothpaste can help to quickly get rid of acne. However, toothpaste does not alleviate the actual causes of acne. Acne appears due to a number of causes: changes in hormones, during times of puberty or pregnancy for examples. Clogged pores, bacteria, and oily skin will cause acne to flare up. Treatments for acne typically include the use of ointments, cleansers or creams that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.
Toothpaste does not contain any acne fighting chemicals, and will not be effective in treating acne long term. Toothpaste consists of alcohol, which allows it to dry out the pimple. When the pimple is dried out, it can reduce the appearance, size or redness of the pimple. Because of this, toothpaste can work well as a spot treatment to quickly get rid of acne at home.
So like most quirky rumors, it's one of those things that you want to try to see if it really works, right? Well, that's what happened to me. I used toothpaste to help get rid of acne during one of those, "Oh no I'm desperate" moments. Toothpaste will not be affective in treating blackhead or whiteheads. It can actually make them worse by clogging your pores. I wouldn't consider blackheads an emergency either. But if you do have acne that you need to get rid of quick, toothpaste can be used for that emergency. You will need to take a pea-sized amount of toothpaste, not a gel paste, it will not absorb moisture, and spread it on your acne, completely covering it. After leaving the toothpaste on for 20 minutes, rinse carefully. Properly clean and moisturize your fast after you remove the toothpaste. It is not recommended to leave the toothpaste on overnight or to use it as a mask. Toothpaste can absorb too much of the moisture in your face if left on too long. This can leave your skin too dry. It is not recommended to use toothpaste to get rid of acne more than once a week.
So toothpaste is a quirky, fast, at home trick to help get rid of acne. Despite this quick fix, it is important to maintain a daily skin care routine, using the correct skin related products. The health of your skin is as important as exercising and eating healthy. Skin should be cleansed on a daily basis, more so as your activity level call for it. It is important to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize your skin.
Your skin may be in need of a fresh start if you are suffering from acne scarring, uneven skin tones, age spots, hyperpigmentation or other aliments. An at home chemical peel can be effective in treating, removing and reducing scars, dark spots, age spots and helps to treat and get rid of acne flare ups. At home chemical peels leave the skin healthier, clearer and may be the fresh start that your skin needs to effectively get rid of the acne. Of course, this would mean you would have to find other creative uses for your toothpaste. But hey, you're up for the challenge right?
