Home Remedies for Wrinkles

A wrinkle is a fold, ridge or crease in the skin. Wrinkles on the hands and face are a normal part of aging. As you age, your skin gets thinner and losses it's elasticity. Our skin is made up of three layers. The outer layer of our skin is the epidermis, the second layer is the dermis and the bottom layer is called the subcutaneous tissue. The most common place for wrinkles are under your eyes, around your mouth and on your forehead.

There are many causes of wrinkles, these are just a few:

Sun damage - Sun damage is caused by frequent exposure to the sun. Protect yourself from sun damage by applying sunscreen every time you are going to be in direct contact with the sun.

Diet and Nutrition - Make sure you consume a healthy diet, rich in vitamins and nutrients.

Dry Skin - It is very important to nourish and moisturize your skin daily.

Smoking, caffeine and alcohol / drug use - The major cause of wrinkles is the accumulation of free radicals and all of these are sources of free radicals.

There are many home remedies to help you prevent and reduce the signs of wrinkles, these are just a few:

Drink plenty of water - this helps hydrate your skin which prevents and lessens wrinkles.

Egg whites - you can use on your face to tighten your skin and help maintain elasticity.

Coconut Oil - is an anti-oxidant which is needed to fight free radicals. Virgin coconut oil is excellent at fighting free radicals and it is the best natural ingredient for skin lotion.

Pure Castor Oil - helps prevent wrinkles and added with lemon juice, you can use it as a deep wrinkle cream that will show results after a week.

Mashed avocado with a few drops of olive oil. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Avocados are a good source of Vitamin E, which will protect the skin and guard you from harmful UV rays.

Green tea strengthens the skin collagen to help prevent wrinkles.

Vitamin A - repairs and helps your skin grow, while protecting it from sun damage.

Vitamin C - This nutrient helps to produce collagen in the skin to make your skin firmer.

Whole grains - Eating whole grains will help to prevent wrinkles by reducing any elevation of blood sugar which leads to the growth of wrinkles.

Learning how to care for your skin will help you prevent wrinkles and age gracefully.
