How And Why We Develop Skin Tags

A large percentage of us at some time or another throughout our lives can develop skin tags. They are little saggy bits of dangling skin that could show up anyplace on our bodies. Nonetheless, there are several places they may be more prone to appear - eyelids, breast area, upper chest and neck for instance. These are typically benign, except if rubbed or scraped, and should not trigger any problems on a regular basis. Everyone can develop skin tags, however they are more prevalent among people who are at an unhealthy weight.

The specific root cause of these minor irritations is generally wherever skin rubs together. For this reason they're very likely to develop on the body of someone who is over weight. For instance, most women have them on the underside of their breasts, wherever the skin rubs against their chest. This is really quite typical and generally not anything to cause much concern at all.

Annoying skin tags are comprised of collagen along with blood vessels which become caught under the thicker skin of your body. Oftentimes, it's likely you'll develop them should you be either suffering from diabetes or simply pregnant. It actually is believed that women who are pregnant develop them as a result of an increase in hormones, rather then being a direct result of an increase in weight. Using drugs, including steroids, may also cause skin tags to develope.

Are Skin Tags Hereditary?

In the course of your life, nearly half of all adults, both men and women, will develop at the very least one skin tag, also referred to as fibroepithelial polyps. Research indicates you will find an unquestionable genetic predisposition to their development. If both dad and mom develop skin tags, either in their adolescent or adult years, there is a greatly increased potential for their children developing them also. For that reason, there is a pretty good possibility they could run in the family! Nevertheless, in depth studies have not been done for this possibility, being that skin tags are not known to pose any general threat to our health.

Generally, fibroepithelial polyps shouldn't result in any problems and you should not have to obtain medical intervention. However, should they become painful or start to bleed, it is a good idea to get them checked out by a trained medial expert, simply to be on the safe side, and make certain that they are nothing more threatening. A physician can invariably have a look, and quite rapidly put your mind at ease. Needless to say, should you be in the least bit concerned over them, especially skin tags on eyelids, it is usually a good idea to have them examined.

A visit to your physician can also help you understand more about how to get rid of tags safely and general skin tags causes.
