Under eye wrinkles are one of the first signs of aging as well as one of the most frustrating. Eye wrinkles are caused by a combination of factors including sun exposure, genetics, continuous facial movements, and free radicals. By incorporating these simple steps into your routine you can reduce under eye wrinkles.

1. Be extremely gentle with the delicate skin surrounding your eyes. It is very thin, often compared to tissue paper, and responds negatively to any pulling or tugging by forming lines, wrinkles, and creases.

2. Protect your skin with antioxidants. Your skin is constantly under attack from free radicals which damage and destroy skin cells. Antioxidants have the power to demolish free radicals protecting your skin from damage such as lines and wrinkles. You can get antioxidants in foods such as pomegranates, blueberries, and mangosteen. You will also find many eye products now contain antioxidants so that you can fight free radicals from the inside of your body as well as the outside of your skin.

3. Reduce stress. Stress adds to the deterioration of your skin cells. It is extremely damaging to your health as well as your skin. So find ways that you can relax and let go of some of your stresses. Stress shows in your face with worry and frown lines as well as the overall condition of your skin. When you ease the tension, the stress will vanish from your face revealing a smoother surface.

4. Protect your skin with sunscreen everyday. You hear it all the time that you should be wearing sunscreen, but it can’t be stressed enough. Sun exposure is the number one culprit in the formation of wrinkles. It’s a sad fact that the rays of the sun are harmful and you need to protect your skin with sunscreen even when the skies are cloudy.

5. Sleep on your back. When you sleep on your side or stomach your face is pushed and contorted against your bedding causing creases and folds in your skin which over time can become stubborn wrinkles.

6. Get plenty of rest. It goes without saying that sleep is crucial for a healthy mind and body, but it is also vital for healthy skin. While you are sleeping your skin cells work to repair damage and rejuvenate the skin. Lack of sleep causes dark circles, bags, and makes your skin look sallow.

7. Drink plenty of water. Drinking water won’t actually make your wrinkles go away but it helps your skin look healthier. Your skin cells consist primarily of water and when you are not getting enough they get dehydrated and your wrinkles become more pronounced. By taking in lots of water your skin cells will remain plump and will function more effectively.

8. Use eye serums and creams that contain effective anti-aging ingredients such as vitamins A, C, and E, peptides, antioxidants and growth factors. These ingredients promote collagen and elastin production and peptides also reduce the depth of existing wrinkles.

9. Red light therapy or photo rejuvenation gently penetrates deep within the layers of your skin where red and infrared light wavelengths stimulate collagen, elastin, and cell activity. Red light therapy home systems are a gentle and non-invasive option that can dramatically reduce under eye wrinkles.
