How To Treat Hyperpigmentation Naturally

Hyperpigmentation is a skin condition caused by the excessive production of melanin, as a result of which the skin becomes dark, scaly or patchy. There are many factors responsible for this - acne, sun exposure, accident or illness. Producing more than the required amount of melanin, sometimes accompanied with a stinging sensation, is the skin's first line of defense against hyperpigmentation. This is what causes the skin to turn red and then to dark brown or black.

There are various ways to treat hyperpigmentation - with ointments, pills or surgical procedures, but before embarking on anything chemical or surgical, let's look at some natural remedies.

Milk

Since olden times, milk has gained he reputation as a natural antibiotic for skin conditions. Its germ killing property is attributed to lactic acid, this gives milk its distinctive taste. Researchers have found milk to have many healing properties. The lactic acid in milk, when applied to areas of hyperpigmentation, can gradually peel away old skin to aid the growth of fresh rejuvenated skin.

Pomegranate Juice

Pomegranates have been cultivated for many years throughout the world, and because of their colorful seeds, they came to symbolize fertility, and symbolize immortality among people of various cultures. Pomegranate is one of the richest sources for healing nutrients found in plants. Researchers claim that the compound found in this fruit can help prevent oxidation in the skin cells - an important factor for smooth skin. This juice can be either applied directly on where hyperpigmentation is present, or taken orally everyday. Pomegranate juice is excellent for removing impurities from your system.

Vitamin E

The Vitamin E you are most likely familiar with is the one found in leafy greens, apricots, almonds and peanuts. You can also apply it on the skin in oil form by breaking open a Vitamin E capsule. It comes in many forms, but Vitamin E oil is one of the best topical treatments. It has been shown to counteract skin damage due to sun and harsh weather, leaving you with better, smoother looking skin.

Avocados

Over the years, avocados have been recognized as another remedy for treating hyperpigmentation. Just scoop out an avocado, make a smooth paste and apply on the affected parts of the skin. This remedy is great for sensitive skin.

A Good Nights Sleep

Researches have repeatedly documented the importance of adequate sleep for a positive effect on the skin. Lack of sleep changes the metabolism causing hormonal imbalance in the body. Sleep is a powerful strategy for repairing and maintaining great looking skin.

Natural Creams

There are some excellent natural hyperpigmentation creams available, some having better results than some of the higher priced brand names. Products with good reviews are always a good bet.

There are lots of remedies to treat hyperpigmentation, just remember that some remedies work better for some than for others, it's just a case of finding out what works best for you.
