Women love to go to the nail salon for a few hours to get their nails pampered too. It is relaxing for many as they have pedicures and manicures done to their hands and feet. But have you ever stop to think about the possibility of contracting nail fungus from a nail salon? This is not to scare anyone away from such places, but just information to think about when you go on your next visit.
Nail fungus is found in places that you wouldn’t think it would exist. For example, you could possibly catch it from wearing a friends shoe or sandal. So the next time you slip on your friends shoes to go out and check the mail, think again.
This information here is in not intended to be negative information that is directed toward nail salons, but just information that a customer should keep at bay the next time a visit to the nail salon is planned. You couldn’t ask for a cleaner and friendlier atmosphere with most places. But this isn’t the case for some. Others may appear to be clean, but behind the smiling faces, it is the unseen that could cause the problems.
When visiting the salon the next time, do yourself a favor if they don’t supply you with a personal bottle of nail polish. Bring your own! It is better to bring your own rather than having theirs used on you. If an applicator from a bottle of nail polish was used on a person that was infected with nail fungus, then your chances of getting infected have just increased.
Some places do not adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the local governing agencies, which in turn leads to an unhealthy salon, thus leading to nail fungus. It is in your best interest to find a place that has built a good reputation on cleanliness and has good reviews by many.
Now if you already have nail fungus, this is one of the last places that you want to visit until cured. It is not recommended covering up nails that are infected with nail polish. Doing this will trap the moisture underneath the nail polish which will help the fungus grow. Fungus thrives in dark, moist and humid locations, so this would make for a good environment.
Most of this is just common sense spoken. The nail has a difficult barrier to breach. But when this is penetrated it just makes it even more difficult to cure nail fungus.
