Acne Acne Acne... Irritating Right?
13-19? Your appearance is everything in these years of your life and some say its the best time of your life.
Unfortunately your also prone to getting mild cases and sometimes severe pimples, blackheads and inflammation on your face, neck and back. This is acne and it very common and I am going to explain what happens and what is the best way to reduce, prevent and even cure the your acne.
Audience meet Acne, Acne meet your Destroyer.
Firstly, the most important part, I can not stress this enough is Acne Is Not Dirt. No matter how much you scrub, wash or scratch your face it is only going to make it a worse. Believe me, ive been there, done that got the t-shirt and the scars. In order to reduce acne we need to understand it. Acne is a build up of:
- Oil. your skin naturally produces Sebum (Oil) which acts a lubricant to the skin pores, follicles and hairs so they are soft, this is to prevent your skin drying out and damage. Sebum(oil) starts in your sebaceous glands under the skin and works its way up like a chimney.
- Dead Skin Cells. You may or may not know, your whole body is constantly shedding skin cells to keep it fresh. The skin cells get pushed up and out by the Sebum (oil) routinely. Out with the old in with the new.
- Bacteria. This may sound scary but you can not run away from bacteria, it is everywhere including in the desert. Dont worry they cannot harm you and you have natural bacteria living on your face and even on the end of your nose. (I Know you just looked at your nose)
In your teenage years your hormones thrive because of growth of the body and the Sebum (oil) you produce in your skin. Due to your hormones being a little of the richter scale your oil levels are the same which means you gain oily skin areas. Ie face, neck, shoulder, upper arms, back and chest.
Lets use the face for example. It is oily due to your hormones and your also shedding skin cells and they are being pushed up from under the skin to excrete them from the pores. However your skin has more oil then needed and end up blocking the pores trying to escape. This results in the first stage of a spot/pimple and from here it can go anyway it wants but normally not the good way.
Once the pore or follicle is blocked, bacteria starts to move in and this is where the inflammation kicks in due to the bacteria flourishing in the trapped oil and skin cells under the skin. Then a pimple will slowly increase in size. However sometimes the skin will heal itself and release the blocked sebum therefore resolving the issue, without a tissue.
How to Prevent and Cure
Best way as a teenager to prevent acne happening is to take this with a pinch of salt. Spend a little amount of money on a proper product that will use chemicals to remove oil, bacteria, inflammation and scaring before its to late. However this does not apply to everyone unless you suffer form acne quite frequently. Coming from experience I have tried every home made remedy from tea tree oil to baking soda and just be frustrated in the long run.
The way in which most products work to stop acne is by removing excess oil and bacteria which are the main problems with acne in your teenage years and show the fastest results and sometimes cure for life. Other products reduce the skin cells shedding and inflammation to prevent blackheads. These products will need to include some of the following:
- Benzoyl Peroxide
- Salicylic acid
- Sulfur
These are strong chemicals and need be used correctly but are the best. There are some simple things to try before you purchase these products for you skin that can help cure/reduce your acne.
Your fingers and your face are both oily, so what can you do to prevent pimples? Simple, do not touch your face unless cleansing. Avoid picking, scratching and the temptation to squeeze those little critters. Wash your face 100x a day? No not a good idea, I recommend twice a day maximum. Let your oils do some work and remove some dead skin cells. Washing your face with a cleanser can dry out your pores and leave you with dry skin especially with hot water so be careful.
Your mobile phone is the best thing in the world right? True but not for your face as it gets touched at least 20 times a day and also contacts a lot of surfaces too. Ie table, desk and other peoples hands. Avoid touching the face with your cell phone to prevent breakouts.
We have talked about how acne happens and how your hormones change your skin patterns. In honesty the best way to stop your acne is to spend some money on your appearances it is the first thing people see when the see you and avoid touching your face.
I have had acne and done all the hard work for you and wasted plenty of time on home remedies but not much luck. Benzoyl peroxide, Salicylic acid and even sulfur are the best chemicals for clearing skin and used with the right dose's can cure for life.
I really hope this article helped your acne.
