How Smoking And Drinking Cause Snoring

Hello there, welcome to my article. I hope that what I have written here becomes of use to you. If you are someone who drinks alcohol, or smokes regularly, you should pay special attention. Snoring caused by either one of those reasons is a major health hazard. It can lead to several health complications that you would have never imagined. Anything from Obstructive Sleep Apnea to Cardiovascular diseases can all be caused by your snoring. Now that I got your attention, I advise that you pay attention and take notes while I break this down to a science.

How smoking causes snoring.

It is not shocking news that smoking has never been friendly to the human body, so I was not overly surprised when I found out that smoking and snoring have a direct relationship with each other. It is not rocket science that smoking harms your body. But what causes your snoring is the damage it does to your upper airways. The smoke that you breath in causes severe inflammation, and causes major disturbances to your upper airways. More particularly your throat and nasal passage. These complications can lead to major congestion. These issues cause vibrations in the tissues located at the back of your esophagus when you are breathing in and out. That being the issue, the solution is clear. If you stop the smoking, the snoring will back off on its own. I know its not easy to stop smoking, but if you want to stop snoring more than you want to keep smoking, you can definitely get this done.

How drinking causes snoring.

If you are someone who consumes alcohol on a regular basis, It could be the underlying cause of your snoring problem. Consuming alcoholic drinks four to five hours prior to going to sleep can induce snoring. If you are someone who has a pre-existing snore, drinking alcohol can make it twice as bad. This means you snore more often and a lot louder too. The answer to how alcohol causes snoring is all in the chemicals. You see, alcohol and other sedatives have chemicals in them that relax and weaken your muscles. In this case, they weaken the muscles located in the back of your throat, your uvula, and your palette. If you can make arrangements to minimize or completely cut off your alcohol intake at least four hours prior to sleep, It just might be the answer to all of your snoring problems.

Smoking and drinking are definitely not the only causes, or solutions to stop snoring at night. There are at least a dozen natural reasons as to why people snore. If you smoke, drink, or both, then quitting just might be the only way you could stop snoring naturally without having to spend money on things like surgery, or dental appliances. I wish you good luck with your quest, and with that I leave you. Have a good sleep.
