Do you or someone you know suffer from snoring? Do you suffer from lack of sleep? Is it because you snore or is it because someone you sleep with snores? It was once accepted as just an inconvenience or an annoying habit, but it is really much more than that. Snoring has health damaging consequences and can lead to very severe conditions such as sleep apnea. It is now an established fact that snoring has a negative affect on a very large percentage of adults and by learning of ways how to stop from snoring can greatly improve your health.
When I first developed a snoring habit, I thought it was because I slept in odd ways during the night. I felt that perhaps if I slept in ways that avoided sleeping on my back, I could stop or reduce the annoying snoring sounds that my partner experienced. I had seen a device that was essentially a ball that is attached to a strap that you put around your waist so that during the night, at any time you start to position yourself on your back, the ball would feel uncomfortable and prevent you from doing so.
I later realized that I was snoring in other positions than just on my back. It turned out that I was snoring when I was initially falling asleep, positioned on my side. The ball on the back gizmo would have prevented this. Good thing I didn't buy one.
One of the main causes of snoring is a relaxing of the throat air passage way. This can be caused by any number of factors, but in my case my age. As people get older, their body tissue becomes a bit more relaxed and causes the tissue in air passages to be more likely to be restricted. Air passing through becomes trapped, causing a restriction and prevents air from flowing at an even rate. This causes an oscillation of air that we know as snoring.
The main cause of my snoring is a relaxing of the tissue in my throat. This, I've learned, is unpreventable due to the aging process. As we get older, one of the leading causes of snoring is a restriction caused by the relaxing of the tongue. If there was a way to stabilize the tongue during sleep, then the air passage could remain unobstructed.
I've used the a sleeping device now for about 6 months. It is a device that you place on the end of your tongue that, while sleeping, keeps the tongue effectively out of my throat airway. Its simple design and use allows me, and my partner, a good night's sleep. Sleep is one of the most misunderstood things about us as humans. Snoring is a major hinderance and learning how to stop from snoring is of the utmost importance.
