Snoring Is Killing You  -  Here is How

I know it is a lot to take in, but it is actually true. Snoring can shorten your life, be the cause of many health complications and even lead to death. Directly or indirectly, snoring has been linked with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (O.S.A.S) syndrome, strokes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, brain damage, and even death. How is that even possible? Here is how.

Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Your snoring can cause you to stop breathing in your sleep. Melvyn Rubenfire M.D, who is also the director of Preventative Cardiology at the University of Michigan did a study that shows that snoring is not always "simple snoring" It is sometimes a symptom of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. This condition causes you to stop respiration in your sleep up to 20 seconds at a time. This can lead to major complications like strokes, heart attacks, and other cardiovascular diseases. Roughly 50% of people who suffer from snoring, also suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. This is not something to overlook. With those chances, it could easily be you or a loved one who could be silently suffering from a major health hazard.

Snoring and Cardiovascular Diseases. Snoring dangerously increases your chance of getting a stroke or heart disease. Marta Novak (M.D P.H.D) made an alarming discovery in a former research. People who snore are much more likely to become victims of strokes and heat disease by a large margin. Those who suffer from snoring have a 34% higher chance of a heart attack and a 67% higher chance of a heart disease. Not only is snoring, it can turn out to be very dangerous, and even deadly.

Snoring and Brain Damage. Snoring from Sleep Apnea can have dangerous outcomes. Physicians have known for a long time that chronic snoring can lead to symptoms of fatigue that affect cognitive function and loss of memory during the day. This is all due to the interruption snoring causes in sleep. However a new study at the Institute for Breathing and Sleep at Melbourne's Austin Health discovered that not only can it impact your function, but snoring could be the underlying cause for irreversible brain damage. I bet you never saw that coming did you?

How to prevent this? When snoring is this serious, home remedies are not going to cut it. You need to look at much more advanced options. These include

  • Surgery
