Small business marketing is expensive when you add up all the costs. The difficulty comes in deciding where to spend your advertising budget for the maximum effect. This article sets out the case for local internet marketing and describes how you can cut your spending and get more clients and customers to your business.

There are all manner of ways to advertise and market your business offline. You can advertise in newspapers and magazines, with flyers and business cards and by attending business fairs; the list goes on. Then there is online marketing, where you have a website displaying your wares and your services.

All these forms of marketing your local business have an expense attached. Often, from all that expense it is hard to quantify the return on your investment. This is particularly true with offline marketing. You may think the same of online marketing but you would be wrong.

Let us take the example of a magazine advertisement. You can see it in the magazine of course and you may know the circulation figures but do you know how many people actually see that ad? No. But you carry on spending that money all the same to promote your local business.

With a website it is different. You can see how many people come to look and you can see how many pages they look at when they are there. You can tell how many times you get repeat visitors and even from which page they leave. You see, having a website gives you far more control over your total marketing spend.

However if you have a website with too few visitors that is not doing you much good. If you have a website that is not on the first page of Google and the other search engines the result is the same. Even if you have a first place position it will be of little or no value if nobody actually types in the keyword or phrase that your website is ranking for.

This is where a small business marketing expert can help you. Particularly for local business marketing, it is relatively easy to attain top positions and maintain them for your keywords. You can put your business right under the noses of the very people who are looking for you at a time when they are interested in what you have to offer.

Local internet marketing online may be only a part of your overall marketing strategy at present. However, over time it may become the most important part because as more people search online for the goods and services they want, many of your customers will find you there.

Having a strong presence online is a lot less expensive than offline advertising and the results of a small business marketing campaign last far longer. So the next time you spend money on offline advertising consider the benefits of a small business marketing campaign for your business.
