Good soccer foot skills come from continuously practicing. This can take a numbers of years to master. All of the great and exciting players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo began playing at a very young age to perfect their foot skills in soccer.
If you were not fortunate to start playing soccer at an early age with time to cultivate and harvest your skills, you can still develop amazing soccer foot skills. You can do this by practicing juggling, shooting, dribbling of the soccer ball.
Juggling the Soccer Ball
For no more that 30 minutes daily, practice juggling the soccer ball. First, concentrate on using only your instep. Drop the soccer ball to your instep then kick it back into your hands. Do this for several times. When you feel comfortable, instead of kicking it back into your hands kick the ball for a couple of times then back into your hands. As you become more comfortable, increase the number of times that you kick it before kicking it into your hands.
Go through the same routine as with your instep for your thighs. Alternate the foot so you develop both feet equally. As you get better and stronger juggling, you foot skills in soccer will begin to improve.
Shooting (Kicking) the Soccer Ball
Shooting the soccer ball is best done when working with another player. However, if you have to work by yourself, you should find a wall that you can kick the ball against. Many high schools have a wall close to their soccer field for this purpose.
Focus on your technique. You should focus on striking the ball with the "cup" of the inside of the foot, with the instep (lace) of your foot and the placement of your non-kicking foot.
Begin by simply kicking (pushing) the ball with the inside of the foot on the wall or to another player. When you are comfortable doing this, start using the insteps (the lace of the shoe). Start about 4 feet apart and gradually moving further away. Use alternate feet so no one foot is dominant than the other.
Getting better at shooting (kicking) the soccer ball will dramatically improve your foot skills in soccer.
Dribbling the Soccer Ball
If you are deficient in dribbling the soccer ball, you will easily lose it to your opponents. It is essential that you work on dribble the soccer ball easily and comfortably.
Practice dribbling the soccer ball by pushing the ball in front of you. Concentrate on touching the ball with every step that you take to keep total control of the ball.
Practice dribbling the ball with the inside of the foot, the outside of the foot and the front of the foot. Start slowly then increase your speed. You should only increase your speed when you feel comfortable with the ball at your feet. Incorporate some cones to simulate your opponents as you go through them.
There are certainly much more that you can do to develop good soccer foot skills but your ability to juggle, shoot (kick) and dribble the soccer ball is three of them that must be develop fully. Practice them regularly and touch the ball with your feet often and your soccer foot skills will dramatically improve.
