Looking for soccer games for kids to use in a soccer practice? The first thing to keep in mind about young soccer players is whatever you have them doing, it should be fun! Keeping the younger players attentive can be a challenge. So, keep them moving. Once you lose their attention you may spend a good part of your practice just getting them focused on what you're trying to teach them. Plan out your practice in advance with fun little games that keep them all involved. These are a few that I have used in the past.

Follow the leader, It's just what it sounds like. Start with one player or coach jogging (very slow to start), the second player follows behind with a ball trying to follow every move the first player is doing. The first player should be cutting to the right then left, stopping, turning and reversing direction once in a while. This is a fun drill that teaches ball handling and control. This drill can be great fun and should be done every day. The more they play this the better their skill level will become. Remember soccer games for kids should be fun, so take your time as long as they are still focusing on this drill.

Another good soccer games for kids is called hit the coach. This again is a dribbling drill but can also be used as a beginning shooting drill. The players start side by side about 4 feet apart. Each player has a ball and when the coach says go, he begins to jog away from the players very slowly but stays far enough in front of the players that he does not get caught to easily. As the players get close enough to the coach while still dribbling, they take shots to try to hit the coach with the ball. This drill teaches ball handling and gets them started with the transition from dribbling to shooting.

The last soccer games for kids that I want to share with you is used more for developing their running speed. It's called Sharks and Minnows. Line up all the players on one line, they will be called the Minnows. Pick one player to be the Shark. The Shark yells Go and the minnows have to run past him a fast as possible without being tagged. Once tagged, the Minnow becomes a Shark and helps the first Shark to catch the rest of the Minnows. The game continues until all Minnows have been caught.

All of these soccer games for kids are designed for the kids to have fun, yet they also teach a little ball handling. There are plenty more games like these that can use to teach soccer skills, you probably have a few ideas of your own. Most importantly, Keep it Fun! This will keep their interest now and hopefully for years to come.
