The Great FC Barcelona

The great city of Barcelona. Capital of Catalonia, pearl of the western mediterranean is also a city of great sports. The city hosts one of the greatest soccerteams in the world, F. C Barcelona. With the success coach Pep Guardiola, the team has found new great heights in soccer. They seem unstoppable, winning almost every trophy they have been in competition for, over the last 4 years.

Stars like Messi, Xavi and Iniesta, and newcomers Fabragas and Alexis Sanchez the team continues to win almost everything. Despite them being 10 points behind eternal rivals from Real Madrid, most of the people throughout the world still see FC Barcelona as the best team in the world.

However the foundation is at its test. Guardiola is in doubt that he will continue at the club, and the extension of he's contract seem further and further away. With Chelsea’s huge offer, Guardiola is considering he's future and it is likely that he will join the English side after this season.

The next few months will be vital for the team. The finale in the Spanish cup Copa Del Rey is secured, and will be played against Athletic Bilbao in Madrid on Vicente Calderón 25th of May. Despite the silverware within reach, FC Barcelona is most likely losing the league trophy to Real Madrid, and that is not something that fits the Catalan people.

F.C Barcelona plays soccer in a way most people enjoy it. Attacking by passing the ball around, looking for every spike in the defenses they meet. It is the culture of F.C Barcelona, and it was the former Dutch world class Johan Cruyff that brought the style of play to the capital of Catalonia. With he's famous Dream Team he won 4 league titles in row, and European tournament Champions League.

F.C Barcelona is a trademark of Catalonia, and their huge stadium Camp Nou is something you need to see if you visit the city. With the huge capacity of almost 100.000 spectators, it is the biggest soccer fortress in Europe. Most of the seats, almost 80.000 are occupied by season card holders, and it is tradition among Barcelona citizens to join their kids to the fan club when they are born, to make sure that they will be able to watch the pride of Catalan when they grow up. Also the club museum is a must see if your way is ever to cross the Catalan capital.

The Catalan giants also attract some of the greatest talents throughout the world. Rumors are that Neymar, or Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior which is his full name, will join the Catalans on a prior agreement that Barcelona have secured with his Brazilian club Santos. However this is pure speculations, and both Neymar and F.C Barcelona is holding their cards close so this will not get revealed any time soon.

This season F.C Barcelona bought a few but very good players. Alexis Sanchez from Chile was brought to the club from Italian Udinese. The Italians bought Alexis back in 2006 but loaned him out right away to the Chilean team Colo-Colo. He helped the team from he's homeland to become champions, and was the loaned out to the Argentinian side River Plate. After leading them to Championship in 2007-2008, he was brought to the Italian side where he played three seasons. He was a key player in helping he's side to a 4th place of the Italian league Serie A.

Also Cesc Fabragas was brought home after 8 years of glory with the English side Arsenal. The English team manager Arsene Wenger captured the Catalan player back in 2003. Cesc Fabragas was the youngest player to play for Arsenals first team, and in 2008 he was appointed as Captain for the English side. Speculations suggested that the player wanted to go home to Spain and Catalonia, and the Spanish giants F.C Barcelona was very interested to bring their boy home. Arsene Wenger however was not interested in letting their Captain leave, and it was not until 2011 that the Catalan clubs wishes was fulfilled.

How will Barca fare now that Pep Guardiola is leaving I wonder if the team will be the same.

I doubt the team will be the same. However hiring Tito whom was the assistant coach might not be such a bad idea as it looks like. It could be a risk, but I really do think that hiring a coach with a different philosophy would be devastating for the team. Big question for me however is who that will be the assisting coach of the team in the next season. Barcelona wants to continue the way that Guardiola and Tito did.
