The Social Media arena is such a large topic to cover and in my previous articles I wrote about Todays Job Markets, Social Media Niches and gave a little insight into the competencies that are needed to undertake these jobs.I decided since the topic was very vague and the job opportunities were vast to first inform my readers in this article, what was required in finding your niche job.
And listed below are my 6 tips to finding your Niche Job
First and foremost find what you love and not what you like to do. What you are passionate and knowledgeable about. Do not try to fake it till you make it because you will soon loose interest and it will show.
Once you find your niche or your passion see in which industry it would fit . Where will your abilities and strengths be used so that you can perform your job well. List the industry, product or service that you feel that you are best suited for. It may take some research however it will be well worth the time and energy spent.
After you have found the industry you believe is the best fit, check the job postings on the companies site and also gather as much information about the company and the person who you should contact. This will give you an edge over the rest trying for the same position.
If you do not find any positions that are available then find a related group that you can volunteer your time in that industry. Very often large companies or charities require people who can spare sometime volunteering. In this way you will meet people, do a good deed and thus if an opportunity arises you will definitely be offered the position as they do not have to spend time and energy to interview candidates as your skills are known to them.
Research social organizations or various groups that are connected with the niche that you are interested in, become a member of that social club. As we all know having a large network of people to be your spoke persons elevates your chances of getting told about any openings before it is announced to the public.
Find forums or job boards that are connected with your niche interest. Contribute your knowledge and the information with others by voicing your opinion. This will give you a better opportunity if there is a position available. Job boards are a avenue to pursue as very often they give you all the requirements for the position you are looking for. This helps in two ways it helps to tailor your resume to suit the job and also allows you to catch up on things you are not familiar with, thus you will be better prepared.
Hope this article has benefited you in some way. Happy Job hunting!
Nice article, but I had to search to find, or to distinguish, the six tips. Perhaps you can bullet them or number them. Will make for easier reading. Very valid point that one's first consideration should be that of providing service.
I think your suggestion to work as a volunteer for a company in your dream job field (if you can't find get hired there first) is an excellent one. Many times I've had friends who have fallen into job openings because they happened to be there helping out. It's a great way to prove yourself, get experience and learn about the company. Nice article.
Hey Chris. I couldn't agree more about finding what you love. I have built several websites over the past year or so and sold many of them because I just didn't have the passion for them. The ones I do have that passion for I can't stop writing content for them and it makes me feel good knowing I'm helping people while doing what I love doing. There is no better feeling when that leads to an income.
