Building Relationships For Social Media Marketing - First Fail And Going For More

Well I just wanted to write this article as a follow up on my last one titled Building Relationships For Social Media Marketing in which I expressed the idea of contacting other local business owners in order to partner up to run an offer on Facebook and hopefully increase our local Fans by sharing this venture and by promoting something useful or fun for our community. It turned out to be more difficult as I expected. To be honest, I didn't think I was going to run into my wall so fast on my first try. But here is what happened.

So I contacted this local restaurant with 300 and some fans. Now, they are well know but not that famous if you know what I mean. And I understand they want to do their own stuff online and build their fan base themselves and so on and so forth. But, if another business owners comes to me with this idea I would certainly consider it and try it at least once. I guess I am the one that would try new stuff, not them haha

When I first contacted the manager via email he referred me to his Social Media Manager. A very nice young lady that mentioned that she was actually on the way of meeting with them and that was going to present my offer to them. Like I mentioned on my other article, she did not seem to have heard or done this type of venture before since I had to explain it to her a few times. Nothing complicated really, just new. Later on yesterday, she sent me a kind email telling me Thank you but no thank you.

It was dissapointing because I think it is a good idea that could benefit both businesses. But anyway, I don't know the exact reason they denied, it could be a few things. One of them the number of fans we have so far, 67. They have 300 and plus. I really don't know what else?

Bad thing is... I am hesitant to contact another business and get turned down by them too. Actually, this was the third restaurant I actually got to speak to the person in charge of their marketing. The other two didn't even returned my calls. But you know what else? If I don't keep trying this thing and other things I won't know what works and what doesn't. So I will keep at it.

Other than that, everything is going fine. Slowly but surely we are getting there. Right now I am running a sweepstake that will be done by the end of the month, it is to win a $50 dollar gift card, they like the page then they are asked to enter their email address. Nice huh?

Thanks Shawn. Definitely, right now I am placing calls and sending emails to fan pages managers around my area. I will write about the income. Thanks so much for your comment.
