Times have changed. Now whether that is good or bad is yet to be determined, but so far things are looking better than ever for businesses and companies, especially small businesses, through the power of using social media such as Facebook. Learning how to put your business on Facebook is extremely important.
It is not very hard and, after reading this article, you will know how to do it.
The easiest way to put your business on Facebook is by creating a Facebook business page - aka - Facebook fan page.
A Facebook fan page can be created in these simple steps…
• Create a profile (if you don’t already have one)
• Click the Create A Page link
• Choose Local Business or Large Company or Organization
• Upload a Photo
• Get Fans
• Input Basic Info
Now don’t worry. This sounds like a lot, but it is very simple. Now let’s walk through the steps.
Step 1 – Create a Profile – Given that Facebook has over 500 million users, this step may not be required by most. However, if you do not have an account it is okay. You can sign up for an account right when you visit Facebook or, if you prefer, you can create a business account after you have created your page.
The difference between the two accounts is this. With a business account you can’t add friends or write on their walls. The only exception to this is if that friend is a fan of your business page.
Step 2 – Click the Create A Page Link – This link is sometimes hard to find. Once you are logged into Facebook scroll down to the very bottom of the homepage, past all the Newsfeed items. You should see a horizontal row of link such as About – Advertising and the third one in is Create a Page. Click it!
Step 3 – Choose either a Local Business or Large Corporation/Organization Page Type – After clicking Create a Page you will be faced with a variety of options. In this case we are only interested in the first two selections. Only you know what type of business you are in, whether it is big or small, so pick which is right.
Step 4 – Upload a Photo – This is important. Visuals catch people’s attention. So help your new page out by giving it some glamour! This could be anything from your businesses logo to a photo related to what your business provides. It is hard to go wrong with this one, just make sure you include a photograph.
Step 5 – Get Fans – This is what makes Facebook business pages a success – the fans. When you first create a page no one knows about it yet, but here you have an opportunity to start getting the word out. Start by inviting friends that are familiar with your business. If you are friends with any previous or current customers of your business be absolutely sure to invite them.
What will happen is this gets the ball rolling. When the people you invite decide to become a fan, of your page, they click the big Facebook “Like” button. Once they have clicked this button an announcement is posted on their wall and on their friends Newsfeeds.
So now that one person has exposed your new page to all of their friends and this cycle repeats itself over and over again as people become fans.
Step 6 – Input Basic Info – This is a pretty straightforward task here. Here you input the business address, City/State etc. You will also have the opportunity to write a brief segment about what your business does and how it provides for customers.
That is all there is to it! You now have put your business on Facebook by creating its very own Facebook fan page.
Something to keep in mind that is VERY IMPORTANT!
In order for your business page to really take off, and help bring in more customers, is having lots of people “Like” your page.
Remember earlier when I said likes equates to exposure? If you get lots of “Likes” you will get LOTS of exposure and all the good things that come with it.
So how can you help make it so people “Like” your page? You can increase your chances of this by offering fun, unique and engaging content to your fans.
By offering your fans fun and engaging content you can easily double your likes and then some.
You can also use a variety of Facebook marketing apps that can be used on your page as well.
By now knowing how to put your business on Facebook you have increased your earning potential by finding new customers and continuing to form strong relationships with current ones.
Smart move :)
Thanks for that information. I'm sure I'll use it soon- I have to figure out what business I want to start first :)
I like the idea of a business account. This helps keep your business and personal lives separate. Only downside with a business account is you can only post on your own pages. But then you could a pen name and spread the word via your personal account.
Thank you! I am glad it is straight forward and easy to understand.
Very good and simple steps. Thank you for providing this
