Social media is all the rage these days and there are many products on Clickbank and on the net being sold that shows you how to make money with Facebook and Twitter. I have been asked this question many times by my client’s and that is, can you promote your website using Twitter. The fact is twitter as a form of social media can definitely give your website or business more exposure and is definitely a platform to promote your business.
If you have built up a substantial following on Twitter you can market your business and as a Internet marketer distribute, promote and sell various digital products to people that are also using Twitter. The easiest way to do this is by tweeting your website URL or your affiliate link to your following. But how do you build up a substantial following to sell to.
Let us say that you are in the Health and Fitness industry and you are an affiliate selling diet and exercise programs. You can then type in Health and Fitness into a search on Twitter and it will show you all the people and business that are active or interested in that specific niche. All you need to do then is click on the follow button for each individual and hope they decide to follow you back.
There will be tons of pages in any given niche, just do it sparingly, 10 per day should be enough and then wash rinse and repeat. You can also pick certain people that from their profile and account seem to be genuinely interested in what you are selling or have to offer. It is also a good idea to try and build up a relationship with your followers and interact with them. Provide your own comments on their questions and discussions and actively engaged in discussions with them as it is not called social media for nothing.
My personal experience has been that people use social media like Twitter for exactly that purpose, to be social. I don’t find hundreds of people every day on Twitter with their credit card in hand ready to buy and most of them are not in the purchasing phase or decision making phase in the customer purchase lifecycle. It can however increase traffic to your website and add people on your mailing list, if they decide to sign up, which will then give you the opportunity to sell more products or services to them as a client and build up a relationship with them.
The point is that you can’t rely on social media like Twitter or Facebook alone to make a 6 figure income, especially if you are just staring out and still building your business. You need to have a website and incorporate Search Engine Optimisation and other traffic generation techniques like Article Marketing, Email Marketing, Forum Marketing, Pay-Per-Click, Posting on related blogs and Bookmarked sites.
Twitter can however also help your rankings in Google if you for instance Tweet an article you have written to your followers as Google’s Algorithms take this into account. The same goes for Facebook.
If you have a substantial presence on Social media it will definitely benefit your business .
This is a keeper for me as I continue to try to raise my business in the growth phase...thanks for all your good words here
