The hottest social media app out there today is Snapchat. It has surpassed both Instagram and Facebook as the number one most used social media app. Millenials are turning to Snapchat as the biggest form of communication. I know some that don't even text anymore, they just talk through Snapchat DM. People don't want to see words anymore. A picture says a thousand words and that is holding true with Snapchat.
Can You Use Snapchat to Market Products?
Of course, you can! The key to any Snapchat marketing campaign is to already have a following so you can efficiently promote your product to your audience. There are a few ways to do that, however, I find that it is much easier to build up a twitter or Instagram following first and then promote your Snapchat handle on there.Once you have built a following you can add what amounts to 15-second commercials about your product often. You don't want to come off as used car salesman though so don't just promote your product!
Take a guy like DJ Khaled for example. He has become one of the highest rated Snapchatters in the universe. Why is that? Because he's interesting! He promotes his clothing line and liquor on Snapchat quite often but more than that he creates videos being smart and inspirational. His audience attracts to that and then he throws in his vodka or his shirts in the video so it is setting into your subconscious. He creates a soft sale and a not a hardcore press on you to buy his products.
I found that the best way to learn how to use Snapchat efficiently for affiliate marketing is by using a program called Snappychat. This guy from Italy created this product and was able to build up his following to over 1000 followers on Snapchat. He efficiently used something called Snapcodes (Snapchat's version of coupons) to give his followers a discount on certain products. He also didn't just sell on there. He created interesting content that will keep people watching his videos.
Campaigns on Snapchat are just like any other campaigns in the sense you want to have a call to action. You can let people know that if they go to a certain link in a certain time period they can save money. People always want to save money and will appreciate that.
Just remember, the key to any social media marketing campaign or any marketing campaign in general, is to be interesting. Content has been and always will be king. Don't focus so much on keywords or selling, Just be interesting!
Thanks for sharing about snapchat. And for the reminder that what we most need is to be interesting:-)
