I've been going through the book of Acts and picking out scriptures to do devotions on. It's been such an amazing book to go through. If you know anything about the book of Acts it is full of new Christian believers who are extremely passionate. They are ministering to people everywhere they go healing the sick, blind, lame, etc... It is extremely powerful.
One scripture that stood out to me while I was reading Acts 10 was verse 44. Which says, "While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word."
Peter was very bold as he preached the word. The word is so powerful that it fell on all the people he was speaking to. It doesn't even say that Peter laid hands on them but says that the word fell upon them who were hearing it.
Peter was also speaking to a group of people who weren't Jews. He was in their house with them. At that time it was still unlawful for Jews to keep company with or go to one of another nation. But God showed Peter that he should not call any man common or unclean (v. 15, 28).
So this proves that the Holy Spirit can fall on any man regardless of their background. Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him." In EVERY nation! People don't have to be Christians to be touched by the Holy Spirit.
After reading and gaining wisdom from God on this passage I have the confidence to speak to any person of any background about my God because just from me speaking the truth, the word, the Holy Spirit will fall upon them. Whether they reject it or not is irrelevant because it says the Holy Spirit will fall upon them.
Even if just for a moment, you are sowing a seed. A seed that will be watered by God down the road.
Father, I thank you for your word and your truth. Thank you for your Holy Spirit and how powerful it is! I pray that I can be bold like Peter when speaking to people about you. I pray I can be a witness of your kingdom on earth. My desire is for your will to be done and your will is for all people to be saved. I pray that people's hearts are opened to your word all over the world. In Jesus' name.
