Do you find yourself living in the guilt of your past, unable to forgive yourself and move on? Have you ever given a thought to the idea that it may not be your fault? We must learn how to look with a different perspective if we are to ever move forward and enjoy the wonderful life that God so freely gives us and wants us to have. We must open our hearts and minds to receive God’s mercy, grace and love.

It is our natural tendency to play recordings in our minds of all the mistakes we have made in our lives and if that were not enough, we rewind and rewind, over and over again. To begin to understand why our minds process this way, we must first realize that the devil is alive! He is the “accuser of the brethren” and he has a plan. He comes to steal, kill and destroy. The devil wants to make is feel like worthless human beings, undeserving of love and incapable of receiving love. His only purpose is to separate us from God and His love.

Mercy is defined as compassion shown especially to an offender. It is a blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion. God offers it to us freely. He does not check our good deed list (good works) but rather He shows compassion and understands our flaws and weaknesses. He has only ask, that we come boldly to the throne to receive His help in our time need.

God also offers us His grace. We define grace as undeserved divine assistance given to humans for their sanctification. When we receive Christ we are sanctified or set apart, for God, and we receive the Holy Spirit. God knew that in our own power we would not be capable of receiving His grace, so as His children He gave us the help of the Holy Spirit. Although we may not be where we would like to be, thanks to God, with the help of The Holy Spirit, we do not have to remain where we were. Daily we can continue to grow in God’s love with His favor upon us.

And the greatest of all is love. Unselfish, loyal and benevolent (sympathetic) concern for the good of another is how it is defined. Only when we begin to understand God’s love for us and what He gave for us, can we begin to receive His love. He freely gave His only Son, that we may know His love. He allowed Jesus to go to the cross and shed His blood, specifically for us, to wash away our sins and to remove our guilt. Jesus has done it all! We no longer carry our sins or our guilt because Jesus washed them away. To continue to carry these burdens would be saying Jesus died for nothing.

If we will only humble ourselves, ask for His forgiveness and receive His mercy, grace and love, He is just to restore all that the devil has tried to steal. Jesus came that we might have life, and have it more abundantly.

Guilt no longer belongs to you; let it go and live in God’s mercy, grace and love!
