Get Back Up!

The motto is get back up. It sounds really great until it is us. Do you ever feel like you are going along and doing pretty good, then, you find yourself right back in the mess (sins) you used to be in? You’re not alone. Thanks to God, by the grace of God we can get back up. We don’t have to focus on our failures, even though we still find ourselves caught up in them at times. We have to first know we are loved, that we are a work in progress and finally understand that perfection is impossible.

Get Up! I know you’ve heard it too; brush yourself off and pull yourself up by the bootstraps. Well, easier said than done right? Well, because all humans’ sin, it is not if we fail Him but, when we fail Him. Our old habits and bad choices did not start overnight and they are not going to stop overnight. They are self taught over a period of time. Replacing these negative behaviors with new positive choices will also take time. The more we practice the new and positive choices, the more we will separate ourselves from our old sins.

God is taking us through a process of making us in the image of Jesus. We are His clay, to form us into what He intended. He never said take me; tomorrow and the rest of your life will be perfect and easy. He said, “Believe in me, and I will never leave you.” He said “I will help you and I will give you The Holy Spirit to guide you.” With His grace (favor) we can get back up!

When we realize He truly loves and cares for us, we can leave the mistakes in the past and move forward into a new day. When He forgives us it is remembered no more. Through His love and mercy He is faithful to forgive. Not by anything we have done, but by what He (Jesus) did for us on the cross and the promises He gave to us, the guilt is removed. Repent and move on. We are forgiven!

On our daily walk with the Lord, we will learn to deal with our own failures and sins in ways different from our past. If we will continually strive to place Him first in our life we will make better choices because we will want to please Him. When we do this we will grow and become more like Christ as God intended. Because He first loved us and He will never leave us, is reason enough to get back up every day.
