There is not a person alive who does not live with regrets from their past. In the Bible God used murderers, thieves and rapist (to mention a few) to proclaim His Word. If we were perfect we would not need to be forgiven. God has provided a way to take away the guilt and shame. There is only one unforgivable sin and if you where guilty of that sin you would not be reading this article.
All people live with regrets. Some that are small and some so great forgiving themselves seem impossible. Some return to sin again and again bringing about even more guilt. I am led to repeat myself and say we all have sinned and fall short.
The Bible references many sinners who greatly influenced the history of the Bible:
• Paul persecuted (hunted down and killed) the early Christians. But he became a great hero of the Church. He had a profound impact on world history. • David committed adultery with another man’s wife, got her pregnant and to cover up the affair he had the husband murdered. But it is clearly stated he was a man after God’s heart. • Bathsheba was the woman David committed adultery with. Her second son Solomon became the wisest man on earth. It was her influences of people that the preservation of the dynasty is still successful today. She is from the linage of Jesus of Nazareth. • There was a woman at the well with many husbands and living with one who wasn’t. Jesus said go and sin no more. • Rahab, a common harlot was used by God, and because of her compassion and obedience to Him her and her family were the only in the city to be saved.
I could go on but you get the idea. He changed them and He can change you! God has offered a way to be forgiven and to be able to forgive ourselves if only we will accept. We have that sinful nature because of the fall in the Garden of Eden. No matter how we try we do not have the ability or strength to prevent it. When we come to the realization that sin is a part of our DNA (for a lack of a better word) we can start to understand the control sin has over us.
When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden God made the way to rid the world of sin once again by sacrificing His son Jesus Christ. Jesus died for ALL the sins of the world. With His death He took your sins past, present and future if only you will believe. Believe what He did on the cross and ask Him into your heart. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins and be willing to turn from them. As I have said you cannot do this on your own but when you accept the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, God will send the Holy Spirit to live on the inside of you. The Holy Spirit and Jesus will guide you on your journey through this life and help you forgive yourself. You will sense His presence in your times of trials and temptations. He will touch your heart through scriptures, music and even the people you meet. When you open your heart and invite Him in, He will be there for you. But you must first ask Him to come into to your heart.
Blasphemy – Utterance constituting an affront (deliberate insult) to God; deliberate irreverence, in speech, for sacred things; extreme profanity. If you were guilty of this sin you would have seen my title, most likely rolled your eyes and had a few chose words for me. The people who hate God and what He represents with no remorse are blasphemers. They will not be forgiven nor do they think they need to be. They are the darkness of this world and will one day answer to the God that they curse. Their eternity will be torment. But because you seen the title and took time to read it, to see if forgiveness was possible makes me believe your heart is still open and receptive.
Maybe you feel you are too sinful or you are too wicked? Forgiveness is there! If you will ask him into your heart He will come. God cannot lie! Think of it this way if you are not receptive to His free gift then your eternity will be no different for you than it will be for the blasphemer.
The Lord commands all men everywhere to repent, Acts 17:30. The word Repent is a warning message to all who refuse to do so. Luke 13:3 Jesus said "unless you repent you will all likewise perish." In Matthew 4:17, when Christ began His ministry, he said "repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand," and in Mark 1:15 Christ said: "The time is fulfilled the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel." So it's important to know what the word Repent means. Genuine repentance is a total turning from sin to serve God. We have to cry out and beg God for mercy as the tax collector did in the temple. The tax collector cried out "Be merciful to me a sinner!"
