Not Enough Closet Space
Whether you just moved into a smaller place or have bought a house with a small closet, not enough closet space can be pretty annoying. There are lots of different products out there. A lot of the products focus on utilizing the space you have in your closet more effectively. Often times they are called closet organization systems. While they can help you free up more space you still have the same amount of square footage in your closet.
The best and perhaps simplest solution I've come across for the the problem of not enough closet space is a thing called bed risers or bed lifts. Basically, they are little blocks that you put underneath the feet of your bed frame that lift it up which will allow you to store more items underneath your bed in storage bins.
Typically, most storage bins designed to go underneath your bed are at least six inches high and in most cases you won't be able to fit the bins underneath your bed. However, with bed risers you will have plenty of room to store things underneath your bed. Think about how much space underneath your bed that you could use to store things. Pretty exciting, huh?
There are three types of bed risers: metal, plastic, and wood. Typically, your metal bed risers are clamp on bed risers. These are used with metal bed frames and they wrap around the frame and are then secured with a bolt. Another type of metal bed riser is for use with wooden frames and basically it acts like a cup for your bed frame's feet.
Plastic bed risers typically look like a cone that has had the top third cut off. The feet of the bed frame(or wheels) rest on top of the recessed space. A lot of the plastic bed risers have a groove which perfectly fits the wheel of a metal bed frame that way there is no space for the wheel to roll around in.
Wood bed risers typically look like square blocks. One popular model has a circular cutout in the middle of the block which will accommodate most bed frames. Putting the wheels of a metal bed frame is not suggested because there might be some space for the wheel to roll around if the hole isn't cut specifically for the wheel.
I am typing this as I am lying on my bed. I just put wood bed risers in today. I have jumped onto my bed without the frame moving even an inch. I feel very safe and secure.
As you can see, with the use of bed risers, storing things underneath your bed can be a simple, practical solution for when there is not enough closet space in your room.
