How To Manage Your Emails
Join 1000's of Authors at StreetArticles Today!

If you are like many people, you sat down in front of your computer this morning, perhaps with a cup of coffee beside you, and you checked your email. How many messages did you find in your inbox? Ten? Twenty? Over 1,000? How did it make you feel to see so many messages? Chances are, you felt overwhelmed. You do not have to feel this way, however. If you tackle your inbox, you can get your emails down to a manageable number.

Recipes, for example, can be filed in a special file for recipes that you have set up on your computer ahead of time. Once the recipes are stored in this file, you will be able to find them when you need them. You will also be able to delete the messages regarding the recipes from your inbox. After they are deleted, you will have fewer emails, which should make you feel a little better.

Once the recipes are out of the way, see what else you have. Read emails from friends and family, respond to them, and then delete them. This activity will remove even more emails from your inbox.

Finally, look at the advertising. If it is current, and it pertains to products that you use, keep it. You might find coupons for a free cup of coffee, for example, or a discount on a brand of shoes that you like. Print out these coupons, and take them with you so that you can make use of them in your travels. If you find old coupons or advertising regarding a product that you do not use or are not interested in, delete it.

After this activity, your email should be under control. If you got to zero messages in your inbox, congratulations! Fewer emails should help you to experience less stress. You should be able to enjoy your evening activities, such as favorite sitcoms or perhaps even the John Tesh Radio Show, without worries about your email ruining your relaxation. You can then sleep well and dream sweet dreams, rather than lying awake, tossing and turning, as you worry about unwanted emails taking over your inbox and your life. You will likely receive a few more emails before you go to bed tonight and then a few more before you wake up tomorrow morning, but hopefully you will not get so many that they will stress you out. Even better, I hope that you receive some really good emails that make your day and make you smile.
