Using music to sleep.
What you need is music that has no peaks and valleys. Music that stays constant and has no parts that jump out and grab your attention. You don’t want music that will entertain you. The music should be long, quiet, repetitive and hypnotic. Yet beautiful and nice to listen to. Something that soothes your mind, that almost massages the senses.
Ultimately it has to relax you to sleep. Therefore relaxation music is the key. There are many thousands of cd’s available but not all are good music to sleep. For instance many nature based compositions will have bird calls, wind and other sounds jumping out. Which is great for simulating a forest or ocean like atmosphere but maybe not for sleeping.
There are many cd’s available specifically designed for sleep. Look for these, but do your research somewhere like CD Baby or iTunes where you can listen to a sample of each song. Find something that really connects with you. Just because the cd says it is music to sleep doesn’t mean it will work for you. In the same way that some people like country music and others can’t stand the sound of it.
It’s all a matter of taste, and to get you relaxed enough to sleep you need something that meets your taste.
Music is vibration, and you need to find the vibrations that resonate with your vibrations. Isn’t it interesting that certain songs just resonate with different people? One person is touched so deeply by a particular song yet another person can’t stand listening to it. Find what works for you.
When you have something you like, practice relaxing to it. By practicing relaxation with your music you will set a trigger in your mind that when the music begins it is time to relax.
To do this take ten minutes at different times in the day to just relax with your music. Just breath in and out and focus on the sounds. Let it take you where it leads. Your sub conscious mind will begin to form that trigger and later when you need to sleep that music will have a deep relaxing effect upon you.
Using music to sleep is a great way to let your mind unwind from all of the stimuli it has been receiving throughout the day. It offers distraction to you not to dwell upon certain events from the day. Using relaxation music to sleep creates a wonderful peaceful atmosphere in your home. It brings beauty, calmness and peace into the air.
