The Negative Effects Of Stress On The Mind And Body

We never seem to have enough time in the day to get done all the things that we wish to accomplish. Does this ring any bells for you at all? And the fact that we believe we don't have enough time to do the things we want to do stresses us out because we don't believe that we’re getting anywhere in life. It's this perception that causes the negative effects of stress and makes us feel all of those feelings of fear and anxiety.

For a lot of people this only happens to them occasionally, but other people live with this type of mental torture on a daily basis and it can stick with them for many years to come. This is dangerous for the body because having high levels of stress symptoms all the time could lead to serious illness, depression and possibly even suicide.

Effects of stress on the mind

Even though the effects of stress on the body are mainly only considered in a physical sense, they also put a lot of stress on a person mentally. The feelings they can bring about during stressful situations are things like indecisiveness and being judgmental. Memory lapses and also forgetfulness are often common when people are feeling the effects of stress on their mind. Another biggie is depression. All of these mental stressors can be very frightening to the person who is experiencing them.

Effects of stress on the body

Stress symptoms on the body can often result in insomnia, chest pains, rapid weight loss or weight gain and other physical effects that people experience in this situation. These other bodily effects of stress are often hormonal imbalance, headaches or migraines, high blood pressure, digestive problems and stomach ulcers as well as a loss of sex drive.

The negative effects of stress that people might experience over a long period of time can cause them to suffer from frequent illness because having a lot of stress also lowers your immune system. But just as bad, or maybe even worse, depending on whose perspective you're looking at it from is that prolonged amounts of stress can also lead to panic attacks and anxiety if stress isn’t managed properly. There are even those really extreme cases where people suffer from heart attacks due to stress.

Is there any way to fend off the effects of stress in our life?

I guess nobody's going to be surprised when they hear that it's important for them to take care of their body and not take it for granted. If you are struggling with stress symptoms, a great way to keep the stress demons at bay is to practice eating a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables that are loaded with antioxidants. Antioxidants actually will repair any damage caused by stress on the body while giving you a lot more mental clarity and energy at the same time.

Another excellent way to relieve the negative effects of stress is to practice daily exercise. You can do just 30 min. of biking, walking or swimming which will make a huge difference in how you handle the pressures in your day-to-day life.
