One way to lose weight is to change our eating and exercise habits. However, how do you change something when you may have no idea what you are doing wrong in the first place? We know not to over eat but we don’t realize why we are over eating. We know that we should not eat late at night before time to go to sleep but we don’t know why one more piece of chocolate cake just feels good to us late at night. We know we should cut back on our calories but we seem to eat way past our body’s satisfaction level. We have all tried every diet known to man. We have tried the new diets, the old diets and will probably try the diets yet to come. In this article I would like to show how getting rid of stress will help our weight loss efforts.
How Stress Influence’s Our Habits
In order to lose the weight and keep it off we must try to handle stress and understand how stress keeps us from achieving our goals in time. Because weight loss is a body and mind experience and stress keeps that from happening. Just like stress can make you fat it can also keep you from losing weight. According to some you lose weight better with less stress in your life. Consequently, because people are more inclined to eat when they feel stressed they are more likely to put weight on or not lose the weight that they have gained. We have to learn the mind and body connection first before we can lose the weight and be able to keep it off.
What are The Mind and Body Connection?
Being able to concentrate or focus on the goal in front of us may help with weight loss. One way of doing this is meditation on the goal of weight loss. To meditate you first want to think about why you put the weight on in the first place. When did the weight problem begin and how to handle the stress that is causing you not to lose weight or in other words is causing you to slip back into the same old eating habits.
Stress Can Be a Paralyzing Agent
Sometimes stress or negative emotions can paralyze us to the point that we cannot concentrate let alone concentrate on our goals. If stress and anxiety is keeping you from thinking of what you need to do to reach your complete potential it will keep you fat. Especially, if you are a stress eater, you get stressed then worry then you eat and forget about the diet you are undertaking or the health regime that you started and was achieving such good results with. Once stress takes over all your efforts are down the drain.
Stress a Powerful Source
The reason that stress can paralyze the mind is that we are only able to have one thought at a time so if that one thought is negative it will paralyze the mind into to believing that negative situations or thoughts are the norm. In addition to this, only one type of hormone can flow through your brain at one time and that if this is a negative hormone then it will cause your thoughts and emotions to be insecure. Once your hormone production is in balance your attitude changes and the weight should start coming off without a thought or a care from you.
How to Get Rid Of Stress
So, what do we do about stress? We have always been told and have experienced that exercise is a good relief of stress. In fact, there are certain exercise’s that help with stress such as, Pilates which teaches you how to breathe, stretch and relax during the exercise routines. There are different forms of Yoga that have different concentrations but they are all forms of relaxation including clearing the mind. Along with exercise we may need a little more remedies to keep our hormones or emotions in balance. In addition to exercise, there are other remedies such as Bach Flower remedies that are essentially for self-help methods. These flowers are good for depression or a crises situation and can help to overcome negative emotions and keep your mind on the prize.
We would do so much better with our weight loss journey if we are able to stay focused, meditate and remember why we started losing weight in the first place.
